Title: Request for Chara art!
Post by: LuciaMoonglow on May 15, 2005, 02:30:57 AM
Hi! I'm going to create an original RPG with an original character based on a drawing I have. The drawing is located here:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/luciamoore/Lucia.jpg

I would like a set of the standard battle-characters as well as a tileset chara (poses optional). I have no artistic talent, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :bend:

Holy cool. I like that character. I know there is a rule here about people with only one post not requesting stuff, but I hope that you get some help. And if someone does do the character for you, I will consider coming out of a year of retirement to make the battle character.

Here's a WIP I started on. If you want me to finish it, I'll do it tomarrow.

Guy's keep on topic, this is the request forum, not the gallery.

AsakuraHao2004: That's very good! That's the sort of thing I was looking for!  :bend:

And I hope SaiKar will make the battle anims, too! I have specific needs for those, so...

Good work and thank you for showing such prompt response!

Alright, Asakura, PM the user the set, I'm loacking this, no reason why this person should get better  treatment.

No, you're not, because people want to do this request. The whole point of the "people with one post can't make their first post here" rule is because those people are very unlikely to get help. But if they DO get help, then more power to them. There is no point in having a request forum if all the traffic has to happen in private messages.

Asakaura, please post the set when it's done. I will need it to work on the battle character.

Yeah, I wouldn't even have considered doing it if Saikar hadn't said anything. And now, I'll get working on the set.

Here it is. Is this ok?

Quite good. *Claps*
That's not to say it's perfect, but not bad at all
Title: Great

Wow, that's great! Thanks a lot! One change, though, which I performed myself...her eyebrows were a *bit* too large on the left/right view (one pixel too large is all) so I clipped them back one...looks perfect now. Fantastic job!

As for the battle set. Either the standard-style (compadible with weapon sets) or an anime-ish style (thinking a similar look to Ryu's battle animations in BoF2) would work. I'd prefer the latter, but either will be more than enough!   :D

I think that was the head band...

The sprite was a bit challenging and I couldn't quite get that part to look right without making it that way. Thank you, though. ^_^

*nods* Okay. I'll do the set in standard style, because that's all I have ever done and trying to do anything in another style would probably be disasterous.

I'll work on a single frame pose of the bcharacter and then show it to you, and you can tell me if it needs any changes.

Sai'kar, we're not playing favorites here, I'm doing what's fair, if I lock everyone else's when the poster of the  thread only has one post, I'm not leaving another open. It's too late now, but in the future, I will not let any other threads stay open if the poster has one post no matter how much you like the picture.

Very well. Then this rule will have be changed. I trust you can handle it on your own, but if not, then I'll be more then willing to discuss it with you in the private forum.

I can say without too much shame that I found this request terribly difficult. It has been a long time since I worked a request off a drawing, and I don't think I've done one both so full of detail and with such similar colors. The all-natural tones made it very difficult to highlight parts of the sprite.

All that said, I'm fairly proud of the end result and hope I did your drawing justice. If there is anything about her that you would like me to change, please say so.

 :o Great Job, SaiKar!

Off topic: Wow! I have more posts then Sai!

No, that's just fine! Very, very nice work!

"Idle stance" is very important, though. A lot of these sets have the character rocking back and forth, I don't want that. I'd like her to bounce up and down on her feet...of course, the difference between each frame would only be one pixel. Any sort of normal, non-extreme martial arts stance would be good.

I know what you're talking about. I can do that. It will take time though. I don't know if I'll have it done by tomorrow, but probably Wednesday at the latest. Yell at me if I'm not done by then.

To put your mind at ease about what sort of style you'll be getting at the end, you can see past characters I have created  here. (http://charas-project.net/resources.php?wa=261&lang=en&area=Battle_charas&howmany=10&fsearch=saikar)

Just do what I'm doing for a faceset, draw it up and color it in photoshop, which you seem very capable of.

The battle character is coming along okay. I didn't have time to work on it yesterday, but I'm making good progress today.

Do you have any special want for the "victory" pose?

What I have done, for now.

O_o, I'm now confuzzled. If someone else drew that, why'd you say you did it?

I never said I drew the image myself, I said it was a drawing that I have...you're bordering on accusing me of artistic plagiarism and I don't appreciate it. I haven't taken credit for anything.

Ahhhhhhh. I see now. Maybe next time thoug, just say "I DIDN'T DRAW IT" so noone gets confused

There is no rule that says you have to draw the reference material for your requests. If there was, very few people would get stuff requested around here.

*poke* Victory pose? Does it matter?
Title:
Post by: LuciaMoonglow on May 19, 2005, 03:01:27 AM
Oh! Sorry, hehe...no, victory pose doesn't matter really. Anything generic like cheering. Nothing too cliche like blowing kisses or whatnot :)

Well, I could be mistaken here, but not only did I not specifically say I drew it, I also put in the same post that I HAVE NO ARTISTIC TALENT!

The fact that I didn't actually draw it was pretty heavily implied.

Wow, that's great! Thank you so much, SaiKar!

This is fantastic! If anyone reading this does facesets, I wouldn't mind an anime-style remake of Lucia's face...heck, I'll go looking, too...probably one out there :)

You're awesome, SaiKar! Thank you!

Edit: I'd love to have a full set of FF7 battlecharas, even if they're done in the standard style (which doesn't fit FF7 well). I've wanted to remake Frank Verderosa's fan fiction into playable RM2K3 games forever now...

Oh, well..off to work on my RPG now!

LOL!
It wasn't really a request. I can imagine that remaking those would take a very, very long time...only something I would pay to have done, for sure.
