Ok, recently, I've been getting messages such as "hey, is this you?" or "this is you, right?" or "lol look at this video" or "i look so cool" and all of them have some sort of link with them. Well, these are all coming from my friends, whether it be MSN or AIM. Well, I actually thought one of them was my friends, and clicked the link. Nothing. Page couldn't be found. He stayed on for about 3 hours, and after a while he would keep saying something of one of the sort above. I clicked it again...nothing. I told him DUDE, there's nothing there!, and he didn't even respond. That's when I got curious. I got the same type of message from a few of my different friends, and this is when I got suspicious. I just asked them something like "What's the name of my game" and they signed off. In short, I think there's some sort of hacker going around. They can pose as one of your buddies, and give you that message. If you get it, ignore it. It's not your friend. I just pray that nothing happens to my compy since I did click it. I'm warning you all. I've gotten this from 3 different buddies now. If you do get it, respond with some kind of personal question that only your friend would know. That's how you catch em....
Edit: Better yet, just close the window...

that reminds me of how i had a link come up on my screen
my friend kelsie told me not to click it.
it said it was a link to a photo of me.
using my amazingly accurate and always correct judgement... i clicked into it.
suddenly all my other contacts windows began popping up sending the link to them with there name in place of myne eg. hhttpblahblahnikblasomethign.com (not really, just an example though)
and then all these pop ups started to appear on my screen.

Well, that didn't happen to me. But something else has stricken my curiosity. Over the weekend, I recieved an email stating that if meltdown@hotmail.com adds you to their contacts, not to add them or even let them see your status, because it's some kind of virus. Well, I didn't get anything saying that they added me, but in that message, it stated that if you are on the contact list of someone who adds them, you will get it too. Now I wonder if this is what happened...

You won't AUTOMATICALLY get it. You have to download it first, and this don't work on Firefox. IE lets it run...
W32/Bropia.worm.aj is it's name apparently...
All I can say is go to housecall, it works only with IE and another browser I believe.

These virus things are so scary, getting strange e-mails and talking to a guy who doesn't exist. *shivers*
I fear that this might be the end of the world.

That is when you learn to hack, my friends. Hack those degenerate scum all to hell.
-
Sometimes on AIM I get message by porn bots, but only once in a while though.
But come to think of it, earlier one of my friends tried to send me a link and he said it was a picture of me. I asked why I would want to see it, and he said "Just click it". So I just told him that I already know what I look like, then I blocked him temporarily. I wonder if that was really him...

Hackers and spyware and virus makers are just computer nerds who can't get girlfriends trying to be important. =P Just ignore them they have always exsisted and always will. =P
-
I read somewhere, that Isreal has the highest virus makers per 100.000 citizens. 100 out of 100.000
I don't remember really well, it might of been 100 per 10.000 or 100 per 1.000! But it's the highest, interesting stat.
And those virus makers really need to go to hell, about a month ago a did a very rare virus checkup with free anti-virus, listen to this, 70 trojans found! Ya I'm loose.
-
Hmm.. I'll watch out for that. I'm usually wary of my friends, anyway, just in case they're playing a joke on me...

But then you're no better than them :(
Man, it's sad to think that there's people who waste their computer time doing stuff like this. With their knowledge, they could easily be doing something constuctive instead of destructive.
But I can see where they're coming from. It would be kind of... fun... in some sick, twisted way. I mean, if you coded a worm and released it upon the public, I'm sure you would get some sort of twisted satisfaction from it.

[semi-on topic]Something a bit the same happened to me earlier this month, I got some porn viruses on my comp so I deleted them and some other stuff happened and I had to use a different comp just to get on charas or anything! I finally got my virus software (goodbye 50$) and scanned, if anybody heard about the virus I had a while ago that infected a game called maple story, well I said there was no effect, I was uber-wrong. A company called Mirar installed their Toolbar on my comp, not that bad right? Annoying and stupid, well, I could never go on the internet without anything going messed up, soon all the resources for my game were deleted, including the charsets, facesets, monsters, chipsets, everything I made myself :C so needless to say I was pissed, understatement of the year. Soon this "toolbar" was doing everything BUT blocking viruses, I couldn't remove and lied about me agreeing to their lisence agreement which I didn't agree with in any way, you wouldn't beleive what it had on it! So I went into the deepest root of my system (not that hard, only windows) and I couldn't delete it! So I tried the simple way, removing it from control panell, not before going through 4 pages of retarded offers! It sortof went like this: "*retarded offer* Me: no Mirar: Are you SURE? Me: yes Mirar: Are you REALLY sure? Me: Hell yes Mirar: Are you really, really sure? Me: YES! Mirar: Really? Me: **** yes." 4 pages, 40 each, then I had to download the uninstaller, which was adware as well!!! But it's all gone now so :D.[/Semi-on topic] [about messenger] yep, only my friend actually sends that to me, not a hacker, just annoying[/whatever]

all my firends got it. dumb shits.

Alright, this is what it is. It's not a hacker. It's a virus. DragonBlaze told me about it, and what it is, what it does, etc. It's a virus that infects your messenger, and sends the message to all of the contacts on the buddy list. Then, if that person clicks the link they get, then it effects their messenger. Not only does it infect your messenger, but it infects your antivirus program as well. The only way to get the virus is if you click the link though. One thing to keep in mind, since this is a virus, it won't respond to anything you say. So, if you said something like "You buttf*cker", it either won't respond, or it'll send you something else with a link. So if you get the message from your friend, that means that THEY are infected with the virus, not you.
Pretty damn smart virus, eh?

yeah, my friend who had it was panicking, as we were talking it was sending me stuff. it was funny.
