Personally I have No problems with midi's unless they are of Mp3's or real music. then they SUCK!
-
I'd have to disagree with that one. I heard some midis of mozart peices that were actually very well made. Also heard a remix of starwars music that was exeptionaly good.
-
I've got to agree that actual songs can have pretty good midis made of them.
It all matters on who's making the midi and how much attention they pay to the pieces actual notation, form, harmony, key, etc..
-
And depending weather they know what the hell they're doing or not. :D
-
hehe i pretty much like MIDI... sometimes i just listen too midis hehe.... And if u want MP3 music too RM2K just download program for it......
-
Sometimes a midi can be good, it all depends on how well it's made. Like the midi for Yngwie Malmsteen's rendition of Bethoven's 5th Symphony completly ruins the MP3 version, but then some others, like Cacophony's Speed Metal Symphony midi, are so excellently made. I respect anyone who can pull off making something like that.
-
I actually found a great midi of Dust in the Wind by Kansas. Unfortunately I didn't save. Every other midi I've found of that sounded like a hillbilly symphony.
-
Asukarahao..... I totally agree... would you mind putting up that MIDI here so i can get it?
-
Just google them.. I have the Power Tab Editor versions
-
Example of an amazing quality MIDI:
-
Nice find.

beutiful one moosetroop... i think ill take it ;)
-
I see no problem in Mp3's just as long they're used sparingly otherwise they suck...
And as for Midi's they are so-so some are good some are bad depends on who made it and what program they used...
-
I say midis, reason being is that my windows media player is being attacked by a nasty spyware or something and I can't use it. Now I only listen to the midis in my game file, sure I could import mp3s, but I'm too lazy.
Another thing, for those of us so unfortunate to still have dial up, an mp3 can take over 15 minutes to download, where as a midi would only take under 15 seconds.
As for games, using high quality mp3s for the whole game dosen't really fit a super nintendo style graphics game. I like mp3s for the intro and maybe one or two major scenes, but I prefer midis for everything else.

That same remix you can hear in MP3 format. Way better than the midi.
I'd prefer tracker music over MIDI. Works the same, has more possibilities.

All guitar tracks suck in midis.
Same with most drums.
It's really gross when they try to bend a note and it gets all... gross.
I love mp3s.
Don't ever leave me quality sound
-
I have to agree there o' omnipotent frog, if a track has song then you cant do that on midi!
-
ah i choose MP3's because it just has better quality like Bass, and its more vivid.
Midis i have no problem with its just if mp3 were not so large i would upload those suckers.

Topic kick!

Yeah....but MIDIs can be really good....I have some Metallica ones that sound really good...
Thing now is Ogg Vorbis...Ogg´s gonna rule if it has investment.

Well, midis can't have vocals either, which is fine sometimes, but the only real benefit I see is size. The tracks are always gonna suck, why edit them >_>
Also, no ambience on midis.
Any freak who listens to midis like real music is a freak.
-
I've been using infact mp3's from games for my music, they stay small due to the fact of that they're made for games and not real music...
Edit/PS: who cares this the all of all forum we do idle chat here not real bussinus...
-
Anyway... I like MP3s better. I just think some MIDIs are great.

Ok ok:
Rock music done in midi format always seems to be frickin "EURGASIUFGAAS"
Rap music done in midi format is kind of impossible, not that rap music is music even.
Classic music done in midi format seems ok.
Some of the devotion put into game music midis is just insane. One such is attached to this post.
Rarley does an MP3 ever go wrong, because mostly an MP3 is simply a band doing their music, and not someone duplicating the music (midi). Though it is fully possible for an MP3 to be more horrible than a midi, simply due to the fact that the band that made the music might have been on unethical something.
I favor Midi.
Mostly because the common people listen to MP3's and common people more commonly spell "I like music; do you like music?" as "I liek musk do u liek mosaic????????????????????//" due to the fact that common people are either hyper thirteen year old girls that think every message board is like AIM or a guy on something.
And... I really don't know what kind of crowd listens to Midis.
And the thing about one such midi being attached was an utter and complete lie. Such a midi is attached to the NEXT post.

Now this is maybe completley underwhelming, but if you would just LOOK at it in Anvil Studio, oh goodness.

Isn't that from Mystical Ninja?

LMAO....it was pretty good. I compose MIDIs myself. I've been writing sheet music alot recently too. it's not really like a genre of music. Just small , compressed, digitally created music.
