Im just wondering who here has ever wanted to become a mod on charas? I think it would be cool but I guess a lot of responsibility.
Only use the bottom 3 poll answers lol
-
Does this topic have a point?
-
Am I allowed to vote? o_0

I totally choose B. This is quite a terrible topic :/

Ugh. No, it wouldn't be cool to be a mod just to have power on Charas. Now being a mod on a smaller forum or an admin like I was on my old forum a few years ago is more fun that dealing with 15000 newbs and n00bs on charas.
-
Mods don't really get any special privliges, they still have to follow the rules, and they also have to go through topics to make sure everything is going good.
If I'm offered a mod possition at some forum I'd take it, but I'm not gonna jump up and down asking for one, unless the forums go to a complete dissaster and the current mods aren't doing there job.
EDIT: No special privliges eh? ^_- jk
-
lmao, we're exactly what we're called, moderators. we moderate. Sometimes theres nothing to do, sometimes everyone gets crazy and spams up everything and you have to fix it.
-
You're talking about the worst case, right?
Well, I've long been interested in that job, but I'm more thinking of reaching it through an honest way. Whatever I said, I'm interested, but I'll have to improve myself first if I want to try and deserve it.
-
Well, i wouldent mind, but i dout i'ed get to be one, adn i dont really mind if im not, it would be nice tho.
-
It's really rather bothersome. I mean, yeah sure, you occasionally get to smite a rebel or two, but most of the time is spent answering the same questions to new members over and over. "Downloads to RPG Maker are not allowed" "Please don't bump threads" "No spam theads" "Don't bump threads" "Keep personal conversations to private messages" "No, I'm not going to draw your a battle charcacter" "STOP BUMPING THREADS!!!"
... eh... we might need new mods soonish so if you want to be a mod, now is a good time to start pretending to be a really smart and nice person.
-
If I were a mod, I'd prefer to be a mod at a nice and calm forum, where there'd not be too much chaos around. Luckily for me, this is not it.
-
And when the times comes, it will be an admin making the poll. But not with the poll function, cause we all know how to cheat that system *points at Charas Smily Contest Thread*
-
I have been a mod, twice, on two forums, this being one, and I won't ever want to be a mod of a site other than mine again.

And those things we can do without being a mod. Of course, they won't listen that fast till they see you get backed up by a mod.
-
I'd only apply for mod if the moderating range is limited anyway, and I would only do it for the Charas.EX board.
And the PHP board, I'm sick of people posting there when they have nothing to seek there.
But for the rest, both boards are empty anyway, so they don't need lots of moderation.
-
I think we should get rid of inactive mods. I'm talking SMB, GPI, DeKoffie, etc...come on Alex... -.-'
-
SMB made a post a while ago. So he's still around.
-
I don't really care either way. I was a mod on Syntax's forum, but it wasn't like being anything that special. Maybe it was because Syntax's forum was very small while it was alive.
-
A while ago Alex said he's keeping GPI and DeKoffie as mods out of respect for them.
-
So the sirs Rombauts are staying in any case. Great to know that.
Where's Grandragora gone off to though?
-
Either programming bay or sick bay.

Yeah If you ever need one and I still would like to me one send me a pm lol. Otherwise since no one really thinks that this thread was a good idea go ahead and throw it in the junk bin. lol
:D

I don't care what you all say, it's not "cool" to be a Mod. You have to be able to deal with decisions that you know will turn some people further against you. You have to be prepared to make quick decisions as well as know when to sit down and think something over and discern between both times. Just like a parent reprimands a child, it is hard fpr a Mod to do his or her job without the members feeling some animosity toward that Mod.
On the other hand, some members will like you more just because you're "in a position of power". You have to be able to see these members coming and know how to deal with it in a polite and non accusatory manner. Mostly you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to let people who are doing this be your friend.
Right now I have the morning shivers, so I'll stop.

Amen; preach it bro!

I'm not done yet ;)
Now, with dual modship you have to respect your co-mod as an equal. Both of you should make a solemn pact that the other one will take equal responisbility for what both of them do, even individually. When a decision can be made mutually, it should be.
While you must stand beside whatever decision you make, regardless, you must also know when to admit that you are wrong. This is going to be very rare if you're a good mod, proabably never. But it shows enough humility in you to admit that your decision was not for the betterment of the community.
And you can't take crap from members but you must also avoid conflict and confrontation. Don't purposely say or do anything to get at a single member even though it would be that member's fault for taking offence. When you're a mod, you can't afford to disrepute your responsibility.
I'll step off my soapbox for a little while longer. :D

*looks at Trev* Are you sure your feeling alright..? O.O *checks Trevlac for a cold* This is not the one I know, must be a fake! XD

I wouldn't really want to be a mod. You wouldn't really get to have just have fun and kid around with people (as much.)
