Title: Are there any lyricists on this forum?
Post by: CoolZidane on August 19, 2005, 09:30:56 PM: I am writing a musical comedy that parodies the typical high-school movies (Napoleon Dynamite, Mean Girls, etc.)

If anyone on this board can write lyrics, I'd like them to help write the lyrics for the songs. If you help, remember: Keep it clean, but also somewhat funny.

The songs (that I have thought about so far) are as follows (along with a description to give you an idea as to what the song should be like):

Off to School (it is the hero's going to school, and it is somewhat like the opening number of the South Park movie)

Vote Gloria (a campaign song [for the head of Prom Night] that should have exciting but also villainous lyrics)

Prom Night (a slow, romantic song sung by the hero's friend, Jared, which he sings as the hero and the girl he likes begin to fall for each other)

The School Will Be Won (a song sung by the nerds as they prepare to win back the school from the popular kids)

Jared's Halftime Song (a song sung during halftime of the big climactic football game; it is a big Broadway-style song that is meant to serve as a distraction to the people watching the game)

Ending (An ending song for the movie)

I myself will compose the music for the songs, I just need lyrics to work off of.

Post by: GaryCXJk on August 19, 2005, 09:40:35 PM: I've written many songs, including the Charas-special "I Know How You Feel". Never got recorded though. I also wrote a song inspired by a girl I do not know called "The Girl From That Bus", including music.

I also wrote and sung the text of the song "YummyPoetry". I did not write the text to "Yummycakes!" or "Want Another", however I did remix these songs.

So yeah, I can write songs.

Okay. Could you do lyrics for the "Vote Gloria" song?

Gloria is the stereotypical popular girl running for head of Prom Night, and is also the villain of the film. The song is during her campaign. The song is partially her asking for support, and part is her friends telling about the supposed good things she has done. The song will be fast-paced and fitting for a villain.

But what's the background of Jared, the hero and the girl? Storyline would surely help. Only with a bit info a songwriter can write songs.

Each of the characters are stereotypical, but at the same time making fun of the stereotype.

Hero = Unpopular, no one really knows him, he is made fun of by the popular kids

Jared = Typical sidekick, always on Jared's side, loyal to his friends

Girl = Quiet, somewhat popular, she is waiting for the right guy

Crappy descriptions, but it's the best I can come up with.
