Title: MIDI Problem
Post by: Prpl_Mage on October 03, 2007, 06:51:49 PM
Well, simple enough... I tested my game and the music won't play... The dound effects are still there but no music want's to play. It's like the rpgmaker has decided that it's taboo not to play the music I want.

So... Do I really need to re-install the maker? 'Cuz that's pretty much the only way is it not?

And If I do have to re-install it... Anyone got that patch that allows english letters for the "Enter Hero Name" command? Could be usefull these days...
Not asking for a link to it, just that someone could tell me where to find it or send it to me.

Well thank's for taking your time to read this, and add a post whereever it is to mock me or to answed the question, either one will do.

Well first off make sure that you're midi volume is not muted or zero, because the midi and wav/mp3s have two diffearant volume settings. If that doesn't work, see if any other midis play, if its just one, then its just an incompatable file, but if its all of them, its rpg maker. If the volume is correct, make a new project, and copy the rpg_rt.EXE file from that project, and paste it over  the rpg_rt.EXE file in your project. This trick fixed most 'program' related rpg maker problems. If that doesn't work, then you'll probably have to reinstall rpg maker.

Well it ison every last of my projects really, I tried all of them and imported other songs as well. None of it works...

And the volume is at max, I changed that volume over and over but there is nothing playing at all.

My battles still remains creeply silent.

I'll try that thing with the rpg_rt.EXE though. I might just be lucky.

Ok... Although the previous things made me suprised this has left me puzzled...

I uninstalled Rpgm2k3.... All of it's components.

And then re-installed it again, same install file as before.

I open up one of my projects again and try it out, but alas! There is nothing.

So I even create a new project and try to import music again but no difference...
I can play the music with Windows media player manually but music won't play while using anything related to the maker.
Even games I can only play but can't open with the maker(like Bluhman's.)

So... Any thoughts?

This is going to be the fourth post I know...
::::Skip to the end if you do not want to read what I tried out::::

So... I've unisntaled it and made sure that nothing is left behind at the folders... 12 times. Still no difference.

I've tried to install it at the D-disc instead of C but no difference at all...(tried that 3 times)

I'm now back at C as the font looks nicer there...
I've tried every midi and their all malfunctioning... I've tried to raise and lower the volume but no difference.

I imported every song I had in my folders and yet: No difference.

And I put the midis and mp3s directly to the folder, not importing it
I've rebooted my computer, no difference.

I tried other games but my own, games that I can't even open with the maker as it is not my directory... No difference though.

I tried make a new project and play music. No difference.

I checked with my friends, but they are to stupid to know... So no difference here either.
----------------------------

And then this morning, oddest experience... I'm playing the Battle1 theme from the RTP with Windows Media player and then test the game (I wanted some feeling to the entire "burn down the village" intro) and I realise that my Midi is actually playing!
So I quickly press TAB+ALT and quit the media player and is all like "Oh yeah, taste that you freaking bug! Finally got you."
But when I go back I realise that the music is gone...

So I exit the game confused and tries to play battle1 from the maker but accidently click the song above. I then open up the fodler again and double click the song from there as there is nothing from the maker.
And when I do, the other song(from maker) plays along my song in the media player. So now I stop the music in media player and so does the song in the maker... This really eluded me for a while.
Whenever I put the media player on then the music works, but if it's off then there is not the tiniest of sound comming from my speakers.

Could it have something to do with the media player? I downloaded the latest version at request from windows some weeks back... It's the one with a black apperance and that kind of crap... I'm not even sire when this midi problem began so I can't tell for sure...

Anyone got any ideas at all? Stupid or brilliant? I don't care as long as it might work really.

You've probably already tried this, but in your volume control with all the different bars, is 'SW Synth' down to 0? If it is, well, thar's your problem.
