During this past week, we all suffered the dreaded "Two Days of Darkness" that were very confusing until the main page was updated on the sixth. But when I tried to generate me some Million Monsters, I was brought to tears.
The image of the strange FFT characters on white, with a logo seemingly drawn in Comic Sans or paint.
Very few of the regulars here today remember the golden age of Charas, and few else can make sense of the Wiki article on History, but I for one have been around, in one way or another, on and off, for four years.
I missed the Sanctuary invasion thingy. But now it looks like there are 19 different colored names on the forums these days. We got admins and mods of all sorts, not to mention a mayor.
Last time I spoke one on one with Alex, if anyone can remember him, he said he has 7000 kids. I'm sure that number has grown to around 10500, but I haven’t checked.
It's been a long time coming. If you registered before my first account, or even remember what my first account was, give yourselves a pat on the back. Also, you may pat your friends back for them if they remember when the community contest was started, if you remember when the main site turned blue, or when everyone was posting charasets and facesets of themselves to be on the banner (I also missed that being replaced)
Although I use RPGMaker to get out my desires to play the kind of games I envision, where Playstation and Nintendo fail to meet my needs, I have recently found that another company, joining in the 6th generation of gaming, has roughly met 56% of me wishes for a great gaming experience.
Without this company, none of you would be reading this, and it should be no surprise that they managed to dominate. After line seven years of the Playstation 2 hailing over its dominance for the sheer reason that they did RPGs rights and that was American’s wet dream at the time, it looked like they were beaten.
The fabled X-Box 360 was released, and it was good.
Now, this site with the single goal of helping young ones create the stars of their own games, has become a social networking universe on the scale of a Canadian soap opera. The best ideas of your members were beyond the capabilities of Enterbrains now quartet of still popular programs.
Stories and settings could be achieved throughout a numerous, and yet limited field of graphics and programming. And for the most part, when ever those two lucky members came around each year, they got the help, the support, the publicity, and the commitment and motivation to create wondrous demos and visually stunning websites such as Carpe Diem and The Story of Palis.
Congrats to the almost completed Chain Game, and to everyone evolved, except Bluhman who denied it’s possibilities at first. It’ll be good to see completed games from the ranks of one of the high ranking RPG Programming website/forum. In all seriousness, I am proud.
Though I never counted, I personally started roughly 35 threads in the Games forum, over the course of four years and four accounts. Not one has personally been a huge idea of mine, though I did boldly introduce you all to one of the greatest and deepest ideas I’ve had since I was ten, and was happy to see if get covered and sent to the back pages, where it can go ant-theft, as my hopes for it still yearn in the deepness of my heart.
I’ve created PS2 like concepts, such as magical bells worn around the neck and simple space operas. All easily executable on rm2k and above. Though I truly believe it was this community, so hyped up, that I turned to you with these Ideas, and was crushed by lack of interest. Sure, I didn’t really do any mapping to advertise, and It was usually just half a page of story and features and characters, but they were good compared to some games today. I’m not boasting. You can’t boast failure.
Throughout all this failure and misery of the drama that is Charas, I did manage, around Thanksgiving, to come up with something that stuck. I have achieved something, although it is not much, I present to you the big file that is; Project Zukan

This was a game I decided to make. Simple Idea, explore a vast world and complete quests. But instead of going to a pub to sign up or a “quest shop” or some other hub, these quests would be acquired through realistic sources, such as lost and found posting, or favors throughout town. And there was to be no “menu” section that listed quests.
With no intent of putting this online, I felt no need to credit anyone from here or Gaming Ground Zero. And so you may see some of your graphics going used or unused, simply because I just compiled everything I could find that would fit.
It’s basically Fable but 2d.
I look back and I look at people who were ridiculed. Carmen might have been a pore mod in the eyes of some people, but is that what a Charas Member is? A good mod?
This sight was born with a goal. To help those who want to in creating their own character sets compatible with rm2k and rm2k3. Soon it came that those questioning how to use the generators and these programs needed a place to speak, as well as those posting information about their games, or show off their talents or ask for “small” favors in what has become the most controversial forum on the site, at least during the Golden Age.
I’m not blowing this out of proportion, but when I got my X Box and saw that white Error screen, I almost wept. I had thought that the weird teddy bear in red shirt and hat had all but replaced it. It made me think about all that has happened, all that we have been through, and all that I have been through. I seriously miss the great amount of time that I spent here when I was thirteen and fourteen. Hanging out with Darkfox and Kijuki and Sai and Charaman and cybercyborg and Alex.
Even though I did in fact have a real life, which gets bigger every year, there is one thing that I, and even these people cannot deny;
They were my friends. I loved them. We used to just sit and talk AIM and the legendary MSN, with our game files opened up and unedited for hours. As I found other interests and came new higher lands, I still found myself lingering back here, spending hissy fits relating to the awful PS2 games, and searching for the downloads to the great yet supposedly illegal program.
One day I searched on Yahoo for rm2k help. I found War of the Magi, then under the URL www.rm2kuniverse.com which soon became Fated Circle Online, a forum I actually joined. I was best friends with some chick from Canada and an old guy from God knows where. I was even best buds with the admin, who frequented as much as Alex once did.
After getting a global ban, for bad grammar of all things, I left and found Gaming Ground zero, though only for resources. I saw their affiliates and tried them each, one by one. I was shocked to see Charas-Project, a site similar to a program I once had, and soon found to have originated on Charas itself. Yes, I speak of the offline generator.
When Darkfox barely had a thousand posts and was only a generic dude, I PMed him and basically forced him to give me his screen name. Regardless, we became friends.
Various adventures followed. I was in the heart of the Pop incident, and since I have matured passed my old ways, no matter what Darkfox will say, I am more than willing to elaborate on the truth of that short week. Let’s just say I thought claims of rape were always true.
I was banned in the aftermath, barley a month later. I came back and was banned as Zin the Maker, for no reason other than… well. I surly deserved being banned as Kairou, but I left that account and became known as Zin. It was then that when my use of both accounts became public that I was banned as Kairou and Zin.
I returned later as Lighting Half-dozen, a typo. It was meant to be Lightning. That got me so made that I left again. When I had returned beforehand though, someone named Asakura Hao, who I had never met, managed to… I don’t know. I missed the Lord Raffles event, yet I got involved in that too somehow.
My return as Breig was meant to be my last, and because of my new method of posting only when absolutely necessary, I wasn’t active much.
I have an X Box, so I’ll make no attempt now to make great games, which means I have no sue for charasets, and though that concept is no longer associated with this site in the least, I’ll no longer need you all. Not for myself or anything.
In the end, I’m going to do two things that made me notable during the Golden Age as Kairou.
Thanks to:
Don Miguel

Alex
All the mods and admins
Reason Charas has so many users/ definition of a n00b:
People register to use the generators and save charasets online. The accounts of which are the same on the forum. People post a request and leave.
That’s the end of my 3 page “Finally going away farewell I mean it this time” thread. Thanks for everything, Darkfox. I mean it, Robert. And no offense to Bluhman.
I love you all.

Carmen might have been a pore mod
She was a lovely pore mod. I've never seen someone with clearer skin.

[03:04] Razor: Shame he doesn't mention how he lied about adopting a child to get respect.
Not the only thing he doesn't mention. I seem to remember a certain fit about a certain magazine...

0_o I did too. Talk about overdramatic, L6 XD
-
Ay, no hard feelings man. I thought it was a non-sequiential collection of maps, rather than the chronological chain.
