Beautiful trailer for a game in a flooded market.

Sadly, I cannot say I do want.

Yes, I also want it. It's supposed to be more survival than most zombie games. Like, there aren't supposed to be a wealth of guns on an island paradise, so expect more baseball bats and running than usual.

Survival horrors generally aren't my type of game, but I can't believe they made such a moving trailer out of a game with zombies.

Oh, I want. This looks beautiful.

Ohh, wow. That was intense. If I had a console I'd get this.

The trailer does lookgood. Awesome and intense even.

The gameplay, mechanics, and even the graphics, don't.

I guess I'm a sucker. :/

Looking at other videos, I agree with the graphics part. Gampeplay doesn't look bad, just nothing special.

Its gonna get released for PC as well.

But not for the Wii.
What a surprise!
):
Nothing is released for the Wii. It's a pain to have to basically remake the game for the lower level hardware, and then have it not sell much at all. Is there something blocking you from getting a different console or a better PC?

Money. Brazil has no money.

Lucas, sell drugs.

They have no drugs. Just illegal pharmaceuticals.

Lucas, sell drugs.

This is why I love you.

And I will wait excitedly for this game. Buy it used and return it just to come here and bitch about how I got so scared that I had to stop playing. :)

I don't get the hype over a trailer, when no actual gameplay has been released. Anyone can make a pretty trailer, doesn't mean the game will be worth bothering with.

It's because it's damn good. Like, it blows most other trailers out of the water.

Speaking of water, the screenshots that feature the wet stuff look amazing.

Good trailer, but do we really need more zombie games?

Except for the fact that it shows no gameplay.
Just a very heartfelt short story.

The only thing that really piques my interest about this is that it apparently models the human body very accurately.

So? Trailers don't show gameplay, because it not rad-awesome, and wouldn't make a good commercial.

Kirby's Dreamland. That is all.

We ALWAYS need more zombie games.

Second'd.

And I would rather a game that has a great story over gameplay.

Prototype would be a prime example of fail. Fun to smash things, nice graphics yet non-existent story.

If you legitimately would prefer a game with great story and bad gameplay, why don't you just watch movies? They're called games for a reason.

I'm really excited for this game. I know literally **** all about it, but it looks like it
could be very promising from the trailer. I've got a bucketful of great games to look
forward to and I hope this can be one of them.

Is it like a free-roam, FP fighter, RPG stealth game or something?

Open world first person survival horror with RPG inspired stats.

Side-scrolling zombie-themed shooter. Think Contra with the undead.

This.

Mid, really? Story over game play? Those are called Visual novels. Which, although I've enjoyed quite a few, aren't supposed to be drawn into this whole next-gen era.

I JUST had this conversation with a guy in Gfaqs, before we started pictures of random stuff and had the thread deleted.

Anyway truth be told, there's no story even portrayed yet. I bet 20 CharaDollars that the trailer won't have anyhing to do with the game except for the fact that it's zombies on an island resort. For all we know the trailer could've actually been a movie in the works that got scrapped and got sent to game-prod instead.

Either way, for my zombie CG movie needs, I'll just wait for RE: Damnation.

I remember reading this article about a game reviewer who complained that games were too hard and he always played games on easy to progress in the story. He said that battles were the hardest and most boring parts of games and gamemakers should realize this.

I don't get how a dumb *** like him can review games.

Anyway, games + story does not equal FPS or Hack and Slash. It can be done but those game probably looks for an audience that prefers exploding heads and blood effects.
An RPG without a story on the other hand would probably suck balls. RPGs should be equal to story and character development and all that crap, which is why I like them RPGs.

Anyway, any new zombie game that don't give me unlimited ammunition and 78 types of guns will be worth playing. They should be Survival horror and not Shoot your way out- horror.

It's called personal tastes.

Stop being vultures and nitpicking. << Goddamn.

IGN info on Dead Island (http://pc.ign.com/objects/829/829562.html)

And...

Quote
Dead Island will feature open world gameplay, played from a first person perspective, with up to four-player co-operative play. The focus will be on melee combat, incorporating customizable weaponry and RPG elements.

There is an experience system and a skill tree system. There is also a stamina bar, meaning that after a set amount of action with a weapon, the character will need to stop to regain their stamina before continuing to attack. It has also been confirmed that there are "special class" zombies, which are more powerful than the standard enemies.

...This sounds like a mix of Left for dead and Dead Raising....And I'm becoming less interested. :(

What about Wright? What about Layton? What about Hotel Dusk?

No, my good sir, no, visual novels are great. Books don't give me the awesome music Ace Attourney had to complement the feeling, and reading Wright bust the cases wouldn't feel the same as being proud for figuring easy contradictions a baby could solve.

The problem with those as examples is the fact that they have simple mechanics polished to a sheen.
Meaning they have good, yet simple, gameplay.

A good example would actually be Deadly Premonition.
Some people love it because of the story and characters, others hate it because of the gameplay.
I personally haven't played it, but it's a good example of "love it or hate it" due to gameplay vs. story
If this has as boring gameplay as it sounds at this moment, but keeps the level of storytelling that can be gleaned from the trailer constant, it's probably going to have a pretty broken fanbase.

I'm probably not going to play it though, because although I enjoy good storytelling, good gameplay can be waaay better.
Especially if utilized right.

I'm only becoming more interested, because those are my favorite knock-offs of big-name zombie games!

Phoenix Wright and Layton ARE NOT visual novels.

Don't even compare them to that mediocrity infested category.

And i don't know why this still an ongoing topic. We're talking about a company which best success was Cursed Mountain; a VERY generic thriller adventure Wii game. Keywords: GENERIC and WII. Much like the company itself.

<i>Phoenix Wright and Layton ARE NOT visual novels.</i>

EDIT: I've been spending too much time on GFaqs if I'm trying "<i></i>" tags over here.

"Metal gear solid, the digital graphic novel" is a visual novel.

And to be honest, watching a game progress isn't as much fun as watching someone progress through the game.

I don't believe they are, but if you want to believe it then so be it. The visual novels (in which are told to be that in the front cover) I've played, have as much gameplay as a powerpoint presentation.

I'm willing to compromise and call Layton and Phoenix wright puzzle games. They demand as much /more effort than a facebook "game" after all.
