Hey guys, quick question.
I need to hand in a film pretty soon and the stupid camera recorded it all in MTS and as two different files of like 30 and 20 mintues. I'm no video wiz so I'm kinda lost here.
Anyway, since I need to hand in one file in a format they can open(avi, wmv, mpeg, mp4 / whatever) I'm kind of screwed. My pro-plan was to import it into windows movie maker and just cerate a new file out of it. But it can't read MTS apparently.
So next up came the whole "trying to convert crap" stage. Where I attempted some stuff that didn't work and then downloaded shady software that only let me convert 5minutes of film tops or add a huge watermark in the middle of it.
So basically, anyone got any good ideas or should I just continue to look around or convert 5 minutes at a time and compile it into a huge mess?

I'm sure this is what you've already tried, but google seems to think arcsoft is a good idea.

Try Windows Movie Maker if you Windows version has it?

Okay so what happened is this, I started a conversions that was supposed to take like 2x2 hours and went on a different computer (with windows 8) and that later version of movie maker could actually open the files. Although it took like an hour for it to process the files (being like 3,5gb each) so that I could save it (which took another hour) and then upload it (which took like 4 hours).
Anyway, I made the deadline and everything is fine. Arcsoft's 15 day trial thing was probably the best converter I found although it was slow as hell. And in the end I didn't need it.
Lesson learnt - new is always better.
