Battle...

Well, hello there everyone. I'm new here, and I'd like to start by thanking everyone who uploads things here, I've used a lot of the resources here for my game. But I'd like to ask for some help with a problem I've encountered: Battle...
I understand that the more monsters I place, the slower the game will run. But I have but two party members facing a two foes in a little boss fight. That seems few enough. And yet, the animation is horrible? The menu selection (attack, defend, skill, etc.) doesn't even show up. When characters run up to attack, they just suddenly appear in front of the foe and freeze in midair for a few seconds. Most animation's only partially appear or not at all. It's horribly irritating and for the sake of maintaining that little chuck of storyline, I can't remove one foe or the other. However, I can still select things from the non-existent menu, and I know it's the amount of foes, as when the first dies, things begin to run slightly smoother.
I'd greatly appreciate some help to fix this issue. Even more confusing to me is the fact that the waiting animations of the characters run fine during the little opening dialogue with the bosses and heroes. I should probably add that I'm using RPG Maker 2003 for this.

Does this happen only in the boss fight?
And do you have any auto start event or parralel process running while the battle is playing?

No, it happens during any fight with many monsters, the boss fight is just the most irritating case. I think it may be because of four total entities in the battle, as I had a similar problem in a scripted fight against the hero alone and three soldiers, but there I can just reduce the number of enemies. The only auto start event in the battle is the dialogue in the beginning and the monologue from the main boss when you kill the weaker one, if that's even what you're asking about. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by parallel process, I'm not the most knowledgeable about this game, as you can probably tell.

Try making it parallel process instead of auto-start. Auto-Start events can make things so haywire.
EDIT:
When you choose how the event starts, there should be a drop-down box to choose Auto-Start or parallel process. Parallel process events are much better than auto-start events.

Oh now I get auto-start or parallel process, no it's not that. Just about all of my events have to be walked on/touched/spoken to, etc. Thanks though, I'll remember not to use auto-start later.

Okay, so is it just that the ATB bar fills slowly or is everythign in slow-motion?
And with the auto-start and parralel process I actually meant to ask if you had any battle events. Must've thought of something else. 'Cuz if you have a battle event there is this trigger thing where you can add a condition before the actual event is played. That way the game won't even run the event unless the trigger is true.

Everything is in slow motion, or in some cases little-to-no motion. Yes I do have events in said battle, they are triggered by the number of turns that pass and seem to work fine. It's the actual fighting thats in slow motion.

It's okay, I'll figure it out eventually. I always manage to solve any problems I've had with the game through lots of trial and error, though I generally never know what the problem actually was or how I solved it
Thanks for the help. I'd offer to ask me for help any time you need, but it's obvious you're beyond me in scripting abilities.

Well, much to my dismay, the problem has been solved... As my game has mysteriously been deleted. Damn.
