What'dya people use to compose midis?

Anvil studio. The only thing I've found that the free version it can't do is make notes fade over time, but certain instruments on there do that anyway. Here's a link on how to make looping section without buying any upgrades - http://www.gamingw.net/tutorials/157

Got it already, really advanced.

Anvil is not actually that advanced, in fact, it is the easiest one I have ever seen... I also tried Cakewalk *Pirated* but I'm sticking with Anvil. It just takes a little getting used to.

He's right. Some people say it's advanced because they don't know how to read/write music. The only reason I can use it is because I've been taking piano lessons for six years (theory included), and I was making the assumption you were ok with notes, tempo, beat, etc. If you can't, well... I'd learn before attempting midis.

If this isn't the case, why do you think it's advanced?

I am completley oblivious to how one slurs notes. That's what's got my head right now. Other than that, it's just that the whole program feels all cluttered up; and whenever I'm deleting all my notes, some wierd sound is left at the beginning.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about those stupid technical faults. That sound happened to me once, and I discovered it was coming from the bass of my song, so I copied the bass to a riff, deleted the bass, and put the riff back in. I don't know if this would always work or not.

As for slurs, this is taken directly from Anvil's help menu:
To insert Slurs, Crescendos, Decrescendos, and Repeat symbols:
 -position the cursor where you want the symbol added
 -select a range of notes if you want the symbol to apply to a range
 -select Insert Notation... from the Edit menu.
 -select the symbol that you want to add.
 -click on the new symbol to move it up, down, right, or left within the      measure or change its size.
