Probably depends on the publisher. You should check the Net for some different publishers, see what their requirements are. Are you planning on writing a novel or something?

Yes, i am planning on writing a novel, well if by that you mean a series. Then, i don't know. It might be just one book.

If you have talent and a recognizeable name, you dont have to pay anything, but sometimes you do have to invest a bit of money to get them to print it.

Hm, so at $50 a piece I guess it's safe to say that someone's first published book won't turn over any money, just hopefully get the name out.
