So Im Brainstorming...

Well, Ive taken a little bit of a break from doing anything creative....for the sake of finding inspiration for doing creative things.

And it brought me to playing some games...well, no, playing FFTA2, and thinking about how awesome the sprites are.

With my current spriting project, I have no room to make sweet isometric sprites. But they sure do look cool.
And then i figured Id look at some side scrolling sprites, to find awesome ones to look at, for inspiration sake.

I looked at some megaman sprites
I looked at some marios.
Some sonics. All the things you find first on a google image search.
Then I looked at some metal slug sprites. Some FE Battle Sprites.

And I got to thinking...there are lots of 2-d platformers out there, and as such...lots of sprites.

Name some 2-D platformers that you like, for their sprites, if nothing else.
While youre at it, list off some other games that have radical sprites.

If you can, post a link to some really radical spritesheets.

I want to look at stuff and keep brainstorming. Do it for gemini

I highly suggest the MegaMan X/Zero/ZX sprites, personal favorites, after Metal Slug of course. Definitely Guilty Gear and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure too if fighters apply. Maybe Super Metroid if you're up to it.

God damnit I hate/love a2.

I like the game... of course... but Luso is such a faggot.
Also, the story sucks. Let me give you a rundown of every event:

Luso: We have to do so and so
*2 annoying seconds of screen scrolling*
Monster: Ragh rah!
*screen scrolls back*
Luso: But there are monsters around.
*screen scrolls forward*
Monster: Gwar rah!
*screen scrolls back*
Luso: Better take care of these monsters.
END

Gria are broken species btw, I've played through the game three times (once normal, once hard, then once hard with all females cept Luso) and my 4 Gria+Summoner+faggot boy team is easily the best.


Far as sprites go... I love the stuff from Yggdra Union. Some of the best side scrolling stuff I've seen yet. Very hard to edit though. Castlevania also has some really great stuff, mainly the sprites for the player characters in the DS games, but the backgrounds were hard for me to edit so I quit screwing around with them.
