I know it's possible to mod RM so that it'll do things it doesn't normally do, as I've found the numerous tools people have made that let you do things like edit the title screen, game icon, etc, online.
However, I was wondering if doing something like this by myself would be a complicated task. What I really want to do is make RM2k3 play sound files other than MIDI, WAV and MP3. I found something online that would allow certain other types of sound files, but the link was broken and it didn't really include what I wanted anyway.
So does anyone know of any methods to mod RM like that?

Thanks lonewolf, but I already have plenty of software capable of making any sound file an MP3. I'm just trying to find the ability to play sound files other than MP3 because they take up so much space (and not MIDI or WAV, either, but I figure that was implied).
