*I know this is kind of cheesy. I don't care. I just wanted to write this down. I also wrote like this 'cuz of all the poems I've been reading in my English class, soooo yeah. Don't be too hard on me. =P
-The Dream Beast-
Breathing heavy, pulse racing,
I know where I am but I've never been here before.
Two black eyes staring at me through the cold,
penetrating me as if by some plotting device.
Two wide eyes glaring defensively back,
to gaze upon it's frightening form.
White coat, black skin,
bloody claws, gentle still.
Not what I expected, what I expected I don't know.
Not how it should follow me, track me through the snow
I remember stuffing venison in the freezer,
morbid as it lie, limbs twisted and disfigured.
Lifeless eyes staring at me through their holes,
I never skinned it, cleaned it, or removed its woeful clothes.
Though the beast wanted it, he did not make a move.
My eyes never left his, and his never left mine.
As quickly as my terror would allow,
I left him there, and he let me by.
Not what I expected, what I expected I don't know.
Not how it should have been, hidden, not for show.
Back to camp, attempting to survive.
Against the odds, against the wild.
Mere eyesight from my house,
we lie in nature's shroud.
Alive we are afraid,
we lie and keep the fire going.
Not what I expected, what I expected was a penny
For my thought, for my sanity, a story to give me plenty.
Through my tent I'd left unzipped,
The beast slipped his ugly head.
He'd followed me here,
And so I thought he'd have me dead.
But his white coat shimmered so,
even through the pitch of night.
and he just stared at me so calm,
not a sound, no warning of a fight.
Not what I can not breath, I take it in,
the cold air stifles me, as I prepare for what's coming.
As he turned and left the camp, the fire died,
my heart seemed to leave my chest.
My friends around me stood in wonder,
but did not chase the wandering beast.
He turned his powerful head,
and at me he seemed to beg,
"come with me, come away,
come find me through the wood."
But I did not leave and from where I stood
the woods were waiting to take me.
And the white beast, dismayed,
laid his head down and turned away.
There was silence all around those woods,
no breeze, no sound, no good.
Then suddenly through the darkness came truth,
and with it all ran in fear.
Black coat, white skin,
fresh claws, intentions clear.
Another beast.
A different beast.
What I should have known; the beast I met was naught but coy
compared to this newer monster
whence came from the void.

-Untitled Rough Work-
Money fuels the bias;
I think that's plain enough to see.
If you could ever burn it all;
fill up the oceans with your greed.
For you there's not enough
of anything to go around.
Forgetting where it came from;
who made it and who enslaved 'em.
Take away the chances
so the choices aren't so many.
But leave the golden hue behind the glass
so their eyes can taste the honey.
But we can not own what we can't hold.
We can not understand.
Where values come from and who was told
to force them in our hands.
And we're told there is a reckoning;
a rapture on our heels.
And soon all of the people,
who watch us eat our every meal.
While they're skin and bones, their fancy clothes
hang pretty off their bodies,
It's hard to sate your hunger
when you're eating prophecies.
When you find yourself before a jury
of every single sin committed.
The gavel slams, the verdicts clear:
no penance for the wicked.
But if this indulgence sets you free
you may find they'll turn the other cheek.
It was just a small fee
they had warned you better pay.
So here's what we're gonna do;
since you're overdue and out of time,
you'll pay off all your debt
with some years of your afterlife.
The bankers kept a record
of all your unpaid bills, I fear,
He knows you got somewhere to be
so please, just sign here and here.
But we value your patronage,
we're here for you.
Just deposit all you can afford,
and maybe you'll get through.
But until then, please wait on hold,
while we use the company
to flirt with our richest clients
and get all our drinks for free.

I lay myself to sleep tonight,
no one more battle must I fight.
Darkness seeps within my sleep,
Captive am I, lying in the madman's keep.
Reality doth grasp my glee,
as to why, I cannot see.
