Just reached 50 quests myself... Long way to go. All the waiting has led me to do a lot of standing around in a place letting my stardust dragon kill everything. I got 2 paladin shields from the dungeon after 22 kills though. So that's something. There's just so many banners to get from that place and too many different monsters spawning.
It feels like Expert increased some drop rates a bit too much. Especially the pieces for the ankh charm. I donno how many armor polish and nazars I managed to get from that dungeon run either. I also have like 4 Blessed apples and 3 jungle keys.
I dig the starwrath but I don't have the Meawmere yet. Feels like the melee weapons are a bit too good though. With all them beams and stuff.

Melee weapons are still only really good at single targets. Ranged are the same way, just from further. You don't get into serious mass destruction until you start mucking with summoning and magic. Last prism is fun but drains mana so quick. I might make a mage set anyway just to see it shine.

So I found out there's a decent way to power level the fishing achivements. The fish the angler requests is based on the world, not the character, and resets at the world's new 4:30 AM. But the one-per-day limit is based on the character, not the world. So, instead of waiting an entire day on one character for the next 4:30 to come, if you have multiple characters, you can log them on and off and cycle between them to do the same quest in the same world multiple times before the day ends. You're really only limited to how many characters you can equip with fishing rods, bait, and weapons/armor to withstand the enemies in the area you need to fish in. Even a crappy corrupt/crimson rod is good enough for fishing up quest fish, bait tends to take care of itself once you start completing quests and opening crates. Fighting enemies is a challenge, but basically any character with some hardmode gear should be able to fight off the worst of it. I got about 30 fishing quests done in a couple hours doing this, plus a lot of gold, ores, and various vanity drops. Not too bad.

Even better actually. Apparently you can fish up the quest fish as long as it isn't in your inventory.
So if you have one character with all the fishing gear and fish up dirtfish, stash it in a chest behind you, and repeat 5 times. You can then turn it in with that character, log in with a new one, open the chest, grab the fish and turn it in. That way your only limit is how many characters you want to create and how long you can stand being in the same place.
Just a note, the game apparently checks quest completion by character name. So 2 characters called Fred cannot turn in quests in the same world.
I managed to get all the parts for the fish finder, so I made the PDA and eventually the cellphone, I also noticed that you can torn off the displays by having the menu open and clicking the small icons.
I compiled a list of the different possible biomes you need to visit.
Terraria Fisherman quest
Quest fish locations:
Mushroom 1
Honey 1
Ocean 2
Sky 2
Crimson 2
Corruption 3
Jungle 4
Hallow surface 2
Hallow underground 1
Snow surface 2
Snow underground 2
Forest 9
Cavern 8
Most sky fishes can be caught in normal surface, and all underground fishes can be caught on surface or deeper down in the cavern.

Yeah. Through a combination of luck, planning, and that endless water bucket I got from a quest, I managed to create most biomes relatively close to my spawn point. Underground hallow and crimson are the most dangerous, but that trick about the safe is useful.
I'm gunna power through to 200 and have me a perfect game.

I finished my 200th fishing quest but I still haven't recieved all possible rewards from it yet. There's the goldfish trophy and the dawfish trophy that I miss.
Besides that there are still some boss trophies missing, a lot of monster banners. Some accessories and weapons, mostly moon lord, fishron and really really low chance drop like the bananarang.
Also I haven't defeated fishron or the moon lord on expert. It's nearly impossible to defeat mr lord. And Fishrons final stage (finally made it that far) is a ridiculous.
There's also some paintings I miss, mostly from the underground cabins, and the new ones from the traveling merchant.

Being a pure compleitionist is too tedius so I'm not going to bother. Got my 100% achievements as well. Good enough.
MP server just beat the mechanicals. I wasn't sure we were going to make it. In a way, it was harder for me than for you because I had to fight bosses that had HP scaled for 2-4 people when *scoff scoff* only I was really pulling my weight. But once I dragged everyone up to my level it got a lot more reasonable.

Me and a friend got started in a multiplayer world as well, but we were too lucky to be honest. The first crimson mimic we stumbled upon in hardmode dropped the Fetid baghdas, that weapon is sick. The second we killled dropped life steal and the third dropped the flesh knuckles. Some hour more and we found a crimson key (not that we could open it yet though.)
Problem was just that he did pretty much everything. I didn't find anything fancy and the magic from the hallowed mimics isn't exactly good. Neither is the lie drain.

I think the thing that makes the expert MP server I'm on so fun is the fact that I'm the only one that played the game seriously before now, and even my strategies and plans have been meandering and occasionally abitrary. Having a half dozen interested but inexperienced players really adds to the spontaneity and brings back the thrill of discovery since they come up with things I would have never tried. Its preventing it from being a complete grind.

I agree that it does fresh things up. But at the same time it feels like I'm ordering them around from time to time. Instead of them checking things out or setting out somewhere it's more like "Hey, we killed this boss, where should we go now?". And then I feel stupid when we found 4 Jungle keys after I explained the biome keys and how difficult they are to find.
I spend a lot of time building farms of different kinds. It started with some rows of flowers, then I realized that those wormhole potions ran out fast so I made a fishing pond under our base where I started fishing. Then I made a glowing mushroom/truffle worm farm, in hardmode I had a life fruit and plantera farm done and later chlorophyte. For me that's like the most obvious way to do it. But they really got a kick out of going to the jungle and hunt down chlorophyte and life fruits.
