I hate Games like GTA.
They've brainwashed people all over the world. Its changed the culture (well, music and TV has to do with it too) over here. people are afraid to leave thier houses in my town at night, just last week my friend's big sis threw a party, which ended up in a stabbing in her room (after 2 boys playing GTA and listening to "Gangsta rap" music, blood was everywhere..... it must have been a slow death....) and 2 fatal overdoses of Ecstacy (wasnt caused by games though...just the influence of rap and TV, which really has nothing to do with the matter).

I damn these games to hell. And the culture that they support.

of course, This isnt really the parent's fault, as the game can be played in most game shops, and is advertised on the TV pre-watershed.

Games really can change people I guess.....

Don't blame the games!  It's the culture.  What a more negative culture there is, I do not know.  You don't have to be "hip hop" to be black.  God.  Black people going "Yo, dis is teh way I rolls, bich"  Basicly meaning they feel they can identify with this.  It's the bandwagon crap again.  But that culture is truely the bane of us.  How retarded do you have to be to think Jazz is white people music? I seriously heard someone tell me this.  He got smacked. (I didn't do it).  That was just an example though.  "Oh don't listen to Jazz now!  'Cause the negro in red over there'll pop a cap in yo azz."

What I believe is, people who play these games, listen to this music, watch this stuff on TV, have a choice to be brainwashed.  I've listened/played/watched this stuff, and so has a large number of people who I know, and they weren't brainwashed.  The diehard fans, perhaps this stuff reflects their personality because thats how they were raised, so that is why they like these things so much.  The people let themselves get brainwashed.  But still, these types of things were going on BEFORE all this stuff was born, therefore, it can't be the games entirely.  I'll admit, maybe the games were an extra little push, but obviously, things had to have happened in order for the people to turn out the way they are, and thus, likeing these types of things so much.

My opinion, anyway.

Rockstars make such games cause people want to do something in a game which they can't allways do in real life. Or get away with it at least.

I don't believe games can make people more violent. I've played a lot of Mario games, and I've never felt the urge to go outside and jump on people and throw turtles at them.

Parents should be a little more involved in watching what games kids are playing. But not too much though; I don't want my mom to come into my room and quiz me; I mean, perhaps they can just peek in their kids' rooms and make sure there are no naked people on the screen or something.

Here's a ridiculous story: you know the M-rated game Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64 right? The one that stars that cute little squirrel? A lady sued because she bought the game for her 8 year old son because she assumed it was a kids game because of the cute little squirrel on the box. I think the case got thrown out because it has a big M on the box saying that it's not for kids. o_0

Oh and Leon_1990, I meant to say; not to be cold about this or anything but that's just one instance (perhaps of a few more) but you can't condemn the many for the faults of the few.  America already does that in general, we don't need individuals doing that too.

A agree with Asakura, about the teaching at an early age thing. Also, I agree with the taking out anger on the 'o's and I's' lol. I do tend to do that myself. XD

For playing a game to alter someone's personality, that person most likely has the minimum amount of willpower any human being could possibly have.  I'm not a GTA fan (In fact, I think GTA is a piece of crap), but I know people who are, and they're some of the nicest, most non-violent people I know.

Indeed. And why do they play it? Because they aren't that violent in real life and like to see how it is without massecaring your neighbourhood.

Funny, I wrote a paper on this a while back. Games just don't make kids insane, it is all on the child's condition, psychologically.

Me for instance, I can kill things in a video game because I know they aren't truly living to begin with, but when it comes to real life I don't even hunt because I'm afraid to pull the trigger on another living breathing thing.

I think kids know the difference between game and reality, especially a 14 year old. Though honestly I care little for GTA games (I play fantasy titles primarily) to sue them for a child's actions is purely idiotic, it comes down that it was the child's choice, the child's free will to do what he did.

Hehe, after all this debate were pretty much back to square one.  It's all everyone's fault as to why everyone is warped.

Leon, I think what you said was one of the most biased thing I've ever heard on this forum, not to mention a load of crap. It doesn't take "gangsta rap" and a game to turn somebody into a killer. Those type of people must either have extremely low will power or are sick in the head. Maybe it was self-defense, doesn't matter really because it most likely had nothing to do with the game or the music.

If rap and this game can influence people to do things like taking X and killing, that means that some country music (not seriously)  can influence people into beatin there wives and and sleeping with their daughters/sister. OR that some heavy metal or rock can influence people into slitting there wrists or conjuring demons (still... not seriously)

It's not happening, and that lady is at fault because the game wasn't intended for kids under 18 living at home with an over-protective, yet idiotic mother.

I blame people like you for making this world a shitty place.

and SnakeIzeGambit,
I know I am probably wrong to condemn videogames and culture, but it is my view, please respect it.
