Suikoden V

This game is going to hit the roof for all rpgs. Man I reserved it last month and today gamestop guy who sees me in there often gave me this Suikoden V Art package with a limited edition music CD and a booklet of art and stuff...Its awsome and makes me want to play even more then before. The music it has is awsome!!!!! Namco better keep this series going cause I dont think stopping at Suikoden V is going to make me happy

For those who havent played any of the series, you should get into it. You get 108 stars of Destiny to use in your castle/ship that builds up into a nice place from ruins and empty based on how many stars you get. normal 60 of the stars to 70 are playable and the rest go into your buildable HQ where it has items, rune shops, blacksmiths to upgrade weapons, armor shops, cooking contests, mini games, and much more.

The storylines are also very interesting an pulls you into about 80 hours of gameplay each game. Where you name the hero and he somehow obtains a certain true rune, and as the story progress he will save the land from war and bloodshed... Through battles, duels and war battles where its like your leading your army to victoy when you choice who leads what squad and who does what.  I just happened to come across Suikoden, a 100$ at gamestop for 20$ and alsmo wet myself I now own them all and soon own the 5th one.

So far I played fully only Suikoden 3 and 4. I only played alittle bit of 2 which I heard is the best one. I just really hope I can like Suidoken 5 as much as I did 3. The battle system in 3 was great and they portrayed the 3 main characters SO well. I didnt think 4 came even close to 3's greatness in all aspects. 3 out shines 4 in difficulty, length, music, character development, story, and battle system. I wont even start with the random sea battles on the ship... ><. The only things 4 had going was the VOs and the graphic improvements. 4 was still good, but I absolutely know that Konami can do MUCH MUCH better.

I heard the 5th one will hold a piece of every game!!!

With some returning stars and brings back the 6 party members, but not as team battles like in 3...I didnt like the team battles much,, couldnt really use all 6 fully unless they all fought.

Also they say Suikoden 5 will have the longest storyline out of all 4 games. Plus they added a bonus in the game, party formations. Switch them up...Not sure if they included the reserve parties like in the 4th one, but I know you can change different formation styles.

I wounder what rune the hero will bear....I hope its good like the Bright Shield rune was in the 2nd one.

Hmm.. Well I guess Ill have to wait till the end of March and see how 5 is. ^^ I already plan on getting it and Kingdom Hearts 2 both on the same day since they both arrive at my Gamestop on the same day.

Yeah... I hope number 5 will be awesome. I'm in an incredibly big fan of the first two (particularly number II, I think that's the second best game I've EVER played... right after FF7)... I never got 3 due to no release here in the UK, and 4 was alright... but not much above average IMO. None of the enemies (save Troy) were particularly interesting and the "sea world map" was the embodiment of pointless tedium. I didn't like the characters as much and I thought the plot was much weaker...

It's so much fun getting all 108 stars... takes so long but it's so rewarding! Also, in numbers 1 and 2 at least, you actually get a real sense that you're fighting against a much larger force. Despite the fact that these are obscure games, PEOPLE GET THEM. They may be old, but they're far from bad

Favourite Characters: Viktor, Flik... Odessa
Favourite Scenes: Odessa's Death, Battle with Teo, Mathiu's Death
Favourite Musics: Dragon Knight's Fortress, Distant Hills, Advancing Army, Forgotten Days (Ted flashback)
Favourite Locations: Headquarters, Gregminister Palace, Gregminister (I think it's so effective how when you invade it at the end, the music is all faded out... it's so beautiful. The faded track is called "Echoes of the Changing Past"...)

Suikoden II

Favourite Character: Wakaba, Flik, Viktor, Jowy
Favourite Scenes: Any of the flashback scenes (so idyllic), The scene outside Muse when you wait for Jowy with Nanami, the assassination of Lady Annabelle... that part made me think "oh my god. He isn't going to... is he?"... Time of Reckoning with Luca Blight was very very cool, Gorudo's betrayal (it's so cool having the hero and Jowy together again, albeit for one battle), the bit when Jowy sends Jillia and Pilika away from L'Renouille, and finally as you're probably very bored by now, the battle against Jowy right at the end. SO POIGNANT. SO BEAUTIFUL.
Favourite Musics: Reminiscence, Let's Climb That Hill (yes, I like that tune), Distant Skies, Requiem of Grief... etc. Suffice to say, I love all of the music from the game!
Favourite Locations: Headquarters, Kyaro, Mercenary Fortress, Greenhill, L'Renouille and of course the Tenkai Pass... home to the beginning and end of the game.

I'm not going to do it for Suikoden IV, simply because I don't know it as well as the others and also because I have no strong opinions for any of the four categories lol

Heey.
I own Suikoden 2, never played it...
I've heard it's one of the most valuable PsOne games.
Alone with my Valkyrie Profile.
They are worthless compared to my Factory Sealed FF7.
(non greatest hits) So...how good is this game? There seem to be a lot of Suikoden games.
 
There's a small game store here that has almost a whole section of nothing but Suikoden games and items.

Seriously though, I think that Suikoden I and II are two of the best RPGs made. Especially Suikoden II. Number one is very rare nowadays though so it's likely to be worth a lot of money...

I would recommend playing the first one first, as the second one does connect A LOT with the previous title.

right on! I agree with some of those...My faveorite characters and songs of the games are as followed...

Suikoden:

Characters: Odessa- who couldnt love her, she is awsome when you have her.
Sakumi - I think thats how her name is spelt..She is awsome in both suikoden and suikoden 2. She's the ninja girl with the claws.
Victor and his talking star dragon sword...I think that was the name...something along those lines.
Sylvia - The kewl elven chick with the bow...I love the elven chicks, they have quite a kick to their attacks if upgraded right.
Vicky - Who could not love Vicky and her teleportations...Always get to your destination until she sneezes you to the wrong area lol.

Music: Sadly not many, compared to the 2nd game this music has sketchy parts in each song...Plus the final boss theme, there wasnt one just the normal boss theme for it..Was odd.

Suikoden 2:

Characters: Victor and his talking sword
Vicky
Sakumi
Nanomi - This is a good fighter chick, I never leave the HQ without her, unless they wont let me take her.
Jowy - he is so kewl. Too bad he isnt always in the party.
Pilika - She is so adorable, too bad she is only in convoy.
Meg - hehe she is kewl with her toys and throwing weapons
Ellie - I think she is funny how she is all over the hero, good attacks too.
Teengar - She is always my mage due to her high magic ability and with Hix, their unite is pretty powerful.
Hix - good fight and has a good unite with Teengar.
Mellie and her gopher thingy...She is also a good rune caster. and I just love her little pet Barnabe.

Music: Enemy Attack, I love how upbeat that is.
War Battle is another good theme when in war.
Remeneance..so touching of a song..makes you want to cry with sad events.
Luca Blight - the battle theme is just killer when you beat him to a pulp. That event is one of my favorite aswell...hehehe

South Window- the town theme is awsome.

Suikoden 3:
characters: Hugo - he rules as one of the main heros.
Young vicky! - I thought she was kewl as a grown up, but when you get her younger self too, its awsome..She looks angry a lot too lol.
Cecile - she is pretty kewl with her pike when leved up.

Music:
Final battle theme - its kewl take it as that.
Final Dungeon..forgot its name...its kewl too.

Suikoden 4:
Characters: Jeane - bought time she can be used to fight with!
Flare and her father - they are kewl, and their unite is funny when she misses the enemy and hits her father in the butt with an arrow. lol
Jewel - Good rune user and good with her attacks.

Music: humm I dont have too many favorites in this game.

Suikoden 5:
characters..I havent played yet but the hero's assistant already looks like she will be my favorite with her sword and cute hair due.
The hero..Wow the hero looks kewl..I never had many biffs with the heros, but this one looks awsome.

Music: so far from the 10 track limited edition cd I got from gamestop, I love Track 3. Sounds like a village theme and is just wow.. Compared to the other game music, the sound is way enhanced then normal, and has a better background to it then normal. Some of it sounds cultural, like some would sound similar to celtic music and some are more indepth. One was kewl. it sounded like a cat village theme.. You hear meows in it on some parts and its catchy lol. Its a really nice soundtrack compared to the older games.

Edit: Suikoden 2..I compared it to gamestop..gamestop used sells it for 60$ online anywhere else is considered in the 200$ range...Suikoden 1 barely rates 80$

So keep your game Smocky_locs2002 cause its a keeper game.. Play it before you think of trashing it cause if you regret it, your looking at a huge amount of money to get it back.

FF7 factory sealed doesnt even compare, cause I trying to get ff7 back and it cost way less then SUikoden 2...

Yeah, that's one of the best things about the series IMO; the massive amount of characters. Not many of the characters are utterly useless, and even those that are are still entirely possible to like as a character! Incidentally, did you realise that statistically, Nina from Suiko2 is one of the best in the game? Now THAT'S unexpected!

Btw, the ninja girl is Kasumi :p Got the S and K the wrong way round lol

Yeah, the Star Dragon Sword is pretty funny... there are so many characters I love though, 'tis hard choosing between them...

Well, if Suiko5 looks as good as you say, looks like Suikoden is going to be restored back to its rightful glory!

If you go onto  , that's an awesome website... they have an editorial all about Jowy's character that's... very long lol. Interesting read, though. Show's how deeply they developed him.

So, onwards Suikoden 5!

Yes. Never played another than II and Tactics (Taticts wasn't that good mind you) But II is the game you should play.
 Notice, it's THE game, not A game you should play.

 I remember the last time a played, my CD was scrached, and instead of his armor and itens, Long Chan Chan was with "$¨&j12$" or something around that in all his equipament slots.
 They all could be sold by high prices, and had weak defense, so I didn't care that much.
