Welcome to the Tutorials forum. This is where you can post tutorials on a variety of subjects, as well as recieve help for those tutorials. However, there is a difference between asking for help on tutorials, and asking for help in general - I'll describe that below.
What the Tutorials forum
is
:
-A place to post tutorials. Though the entire forum is RPG Maker related, a lot of RMers use programs like Photoshop or Flash, so if you want to detail functions of those programs, you can do so here.
-A place to recieve help on tutorials. For example, if you're working on a tutorial for, say, GIMP, but you're not sure if it's good enough, post it here. We'll give you criticism and commendations, and generally help you make it better.
-A place for the more "artistic" aspects of RPG Maker. For example, tutorials for things such as map-making, graphic design, and storyline help could go here.
What the Tutorials forum is
not
:
-A place to ask for general help. If you want help on the various functions of RPG Maker or any program, ask in the
RPG Maker Programming
forum (for RPG Maker help) or the
General Programming
forum (for actual code languages). If you need help on a program, ask in
All of All
. If you want help with RM map-making, check out the
Screenshot Central
thread in Games, and if you want help with graphics or storylines, use the
Creative Arts
forum. Asking for help within the tutorial is fine, but it has to be explicitly related to the tutorial at hand.
-A place to post RPG Maker programming tutorials. Though those are technically 'tutorials', I like to keep them in the RM Programming section, as it's easier for people to find what they're looking for.
-A place for general discussion. Don't post anything off-topic in any of these threads - they have to be related to the topic at hand. Discussions and such are for AoA.
General Rules:
-Guidelines for writing a tutorial can be found in the
Tutorial Writing Rules
thread.
-Be respectful. When posting a comment in a person's tutorial, try to make it constructive - saying "Your tutorial is okay, but A could be improved by adding B, and C is a bit lengthy" is much better than saying "your tut sux lol:para:". Also, I consider the latter both spam and a needless attack, resulting in one of the consequences below.
-Any spam, flames or general off-topicness will result in post deletion or thread locking. Off-topic threads will either be locked or moved, and topic kicks will be locked (and the user warned via PM). Of course, updating your tutorial with useful information then kicking it with something like "Updated with some new stuff" is allowed, but try not to do this too often.
My intention is not to scare you with this thread - though this forum is a bit more strict than others, it's still a forum, so don't hesitate to post. I am less forgiving with repeat offenders, but in general, I'll simply correct a post and/or let the user know that they've broken a rule, rather than entirely deleting the post or locking the thread.
So, in general, be respectful, and remember that this forum isn't for asking for help. Don't do the last and always do the first, and you'll have no problems. And if you have any problems with anything in this thread, give me a PM - I'll be happy to clarify or change anything.
