He has a Pikachu. Team Rocket steals his Pikachu all the time while Ash wanders around the world. Ash's final resolution would be the end of his Pokemon adventure when they run out of gym leaders for him to demolish. You wouldn't have to go that far. It would be acceptable to just show an episode, like Ash meets a fancy Pokemon, Ash's Pikachu gets stolen, Ash and fancy Pokemon pwn Team Rocket and save Pikachu. It's a minor resolution but not a total conclusion.Or perhaps the bombing of the first reactor in FFVII. A subquest that involves some character growth. Think of it as a short story vs. a novel, or a single arc of a longer story.
