Correction, Holland is a synonym for The Netherlands. Though your statement is, in fact, a correct one. Holland not only refers to the entire country, though few people use it nowadays, but it also refers to two counties of our country. To be more precise, Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, which is north and south respectively.

Well so far we just went around to a few of the cities and stuff. But mostly just staying at the house and stuff so far, though I think we're going to go to an amusment park next week, and sometime after that were gonna spend a week in Paris. Last year we spent a week in London.

Nope, wrong. The name of the county is quite misleading to foreigners. Zuid-Holland (again, South-Holland for those who forgot) is only the south part to what was once called Holland. I'm not too strong with history, but as far as I remember, Holland (both counties) used to be a country on its own before it added the other counties and changed it's official name to The Netherlands.

Zuid-Holland is actually a county in the middle. If you're in one that's bordering with Belgium, then your only choices are either: Zeeland; Noord-Brabant; or Limburg.

You can check this simple map I urled in this sentence to see in which county you are.

A bit late, but don't you mean provinces? The Netherlands is a country, North- and South-Holland are provinces.

Fun fact, the youngest province is Flevoland, as it was actually a big body of water until it was drained.
