I'm assuming it's a lot like the Canadian elections, meaning they vote for a person, and if the person wins they get a seat. The party with the most seats wins and takes over power of the country.

Nope, it's about the EU parliament, not the country of England.
And the BNP sounds a lot like the "Swedish democrats".
They are nationalistic as in "We don't like people except the people who were born and raised here". Racism if you may.

Our version didn't get any seats. But the Pirate party did get 1 seat. So I guess we finally have the chance to remove Ipred and FRA.

2 Seats is unprecentedly high. The BNP have long been thought of as a fringe party, supported by too few to bother with.

Keep in mind their first seat came from Yorkshire. Most people in Yorkshire have probably never seen a foreigner, but they've heard about them on the news. Or they have no work skills and have tried to get a manual job, but are out-competed by foreigners who are willing to work for less money. On a side note, Yorkshire's BNP representative used to be a member of the National Front. It's going to be This Is England all over again. Good going, Yorkshire.

Basically it's ridiculous. I'd imagine they got quite a lot of support from protest votes. "We don't want the Labour party in, because they abuse their civil liberties", say the intelligent people of Britain, "so to show that we're not going to stand for greedy politicians, let's vote for the Racism Party".

Oh Mr Griffin, you silly fool. People from European countries are no more British than people from Asian countries! They are, however, white.

The European Parliament is pretty much a bunch of people sitting together in a huge building discussing and planning things. The people in there are representatives from each country.
And the people from the countries are part of different parties.
The people of the countries vote for the party they want to see in the EU parliament .
At least in the democratic countries.

Well, great brittain got 69 seats. 2 of those are the BNP, the parties that doesn't get enough votes can't even send people to the Parliament. So the fact that more "serious" parties are left behind and some "nationalistic" party is sent is a huge thing.

We in Sweden have 18 seats. So those 2 seats would be like 1/9 of the total representatives.
