XIII doesn't do it for me. Girly Cloud (literally; the developers have called Lightning a female version of Cloud) and more generic steampunk based around crystals. It's like a weird mashup of FF4 and FF7. Though apparently they're making a few sequels/prequels to it right off the bat, so maybe those will be decent.

Any final fantasy doesn't do it for me. I am an FF hater, however unlike a lot of them haters, I've played the great majority of FF games. Just that FF13 appeals to me because of the female lead. Brings back to the old FF days.

And what I hate about cloud is his stupid character attributes, not his design.

Actually I am currently playing it. On disc 3. Drace is not impressed, at all. Boring battle system; boring story. Squall is the most horrible FF lead character I have yet to encounter.

As for my liking of FF8, I do enjoy it because I do feel it has a more mature-theme story than the rest. That isn't to say it's the best, but i felt it stood up on that ground.

More mature-themed story? We playing the same game? Cause the game I'm playing has the same story as always. Big evil [optional: sorcerer /sorceress] + emo bits + love story.

EDIT: And that's to say, Squall is an even bigger emo than Cloud was.

Weapon study

Cloud: Horrifically oversized sword that he strangely is able to lift like it were hollow cardboard or Styrofoam. Even then, wind resistance would likely slow it down too. Impractical and badly misused weapon type. You can't one-hand this, I don't care if he is a science experiment.

Sephiroth: Oversized katana that would likely shatter very easily due to structural weakness from over extension.

Squall: A gunblade, a gun handle and trigger, attached to a sword blade... wat?

I was always more curious as to how Sephiroth was able to get around with that katana of his. If he were entering a small or narrow room, he would have a difficult time maneuvering the sword to go into the room with him, as it would get caught in the door, hit random things/people, and break stuff.

I don't really understand what you're going for? I'm not defending Cloud or FFVII. I dislike FFVII almost as much as FFVIII. Cloud is emo, and I mentioned I dislike him in a previous post.

Can't wait to beat the **** out of Cloud and Squall.
