my computer wont boot up... after it sets up the bios it goes to the win XP loading bar after 6 seconds it resets the computer and repetes itself how do i fix?

Umm... could we possibly try to find a solution before abandoning all hope?

Resetting is more often a hardware problem than software, so reformatting might not even fix the problem. Try unplugging everything on the computer that isn't necessary (everything but the power supply, monitor, mouse, and keyboard) and booting with only the power supply.

I had a virus with did that. Luckily, my could still log in on safe mode. I have a HP and mine had it's own back up system which I used on an external hard disk. Backed up everything I needed, reinstalled windows and put everything on it again.

Pray it's a virus. If it's hardware, you're more likely fucked.

Last time that that happened to me, I had to have my hard drive wiped and reinstalled.
Cause I'm a lazy **** I didn't back up, so yeah...
I'd say go into safe mode, and see what happens.

I hope you have your OS disc handy, cause you'll need it.

I believe what is happening is that you're getting a BSOD, but there's a option somewhere that allows your BSOD to reboot the comp as soon as it happens. (I stumbled across it the other day somehow.)
Anyway, if you can find your XP disc, you need to boot from it, then where it gives you the option to install a fresh OS, recovery console or quit, you go with the recovery console.

Then when you are in there, type chkdsk
that'll make windows check itself, then fix any problems it has wherever it is, assuming you have the same thing I'm talking about. Then when you boot it up, everything will be fine and all your stuff will be there and you won't have to lose it all due to bad advice.



What happened the last time you were running windows before this started happening? Did you turn the PC off while it was booting up? Or did it crash at some point? It would be unusual for this to happen without provocation.

My PC is old and has this shitty routine it does where it might not turn on properly, so I have to turn it off mere seconds after turning it on, then turn it on again. Like it needs to warm up or something. Anyway, sometimes if I don't turn it off fast enough, it'll corrupt something or something, and I'll have to dig out my XP disk. But I live by chkdsk. chkdsk has fixed it every time, so yeah.

I had this problem a many times before, laddie. My processor was overheating
and basically keeping my computer on the BIOS screen. Leave the PC a small while,
take the case off as a temporary measure and for god's sake get a better CPU fan.

Do you happen to have a Q6600 processor?
