RTP Mage Drawing
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:48:17 AM »
I'm not just a beginner RPG Maker, I'm also an artist! ^_^ Yeah, my art is hand-drawn and colored, but I like to stick to the traditional way of doing things. So, here's a picture of one of the RTP package's mage sprites, drawn up by yours truly in traditional drawing and coloring methods. ^^ This is also one of the characters I'll be using in my RPG as well, with her name being Siya Calcyone.

Not bad, you got the basics down, looks a bit shaky and hands seem a bit small/off. Eyes and face are a bit weird... hat seems bit uneven.

Hm... what else... it's a good foundational start nevertheless.

Aye, hands have always seemed to be a bane of mine...can never really get them down properly. Still, I'm rather proud of this piece. ^^

...Really? Pfft...looks female-ish to me. Ah, well...if so, I made him female.

S/he has a nice weight to him, and overall it's a very nice drawing. The only thing I'd suggest is to maybe concentrate a bit more on the shading as certain parts of him/her look a bit 2 dimensional.

You look like my grandmother.
edit: when she was young. You don't look like you're 80.

Rule 63 of the Internet: "For any given male character, there is a female version of that character...and vice versa."

That rule always ties into my favorite rule of the internet.

You know the one I'm talkin' 'bout.

Archem being creepy aside, it's a really good drawing. Good balance and anatomy and a striking pose and all the usual stuff people usually have problems with but you didn't.

Also, a lot of those RTP characters are pretty gender-unspecific, so I don't have much problem with you interpreting a blob of color about 15 pixels tall as being female instead of male. I did the same thing in my game with the "male" elf with green hair before redesigning the sprite.

Don't forget RTP Alice.  I still think he's a girl.

They seem to be that way, yes, so I'm keeping Siya the way she is period....though a close friend of mine told me to put her saying the line "It's a trap!" somewhere in the game I'm working on just for amusement purposes. ^^

Ah...rule 63...probably the first rule of the internet I heard about.

Agreed, some can be used as a girl or a boy. Others just need slight modifications.
