Embarassing game boxes...

That box art makes me giggle, thinking of some hilarious old black and white sci-fi film about aliens/astronauts.

Megaman was a great video game but the guys who made the cartridge cover need to hop on the fail boat along with those other douche bags.

It wasn't the fault of Capcom in their case. The megaman covers have some social background, if you didn't already know. Acause of tensions 'tween America and Japan, the fact that most popular games were made in Japan was something of an embarassment. Certain measures were taken to cover that fact up, among them redesigning box art to make it more appealing to westerners.

Good God, that's awful. I love how they didn't bother shading around the guy in the foreground's head, so it looks like he's just got a tiny face over a vast expanse of skin.

To me, the worst part about it is that it looks mostly correct.

The Bomberman one actually looks almost exactly like what Bomberman would be like if drawn realisticly.

There are things which shouldn't be drawn realisticly, and Bomberman was one of them.

He's clearly not a robot though, or at least they didn't care to draw him like one.

And while we're on the subject of crappy game boxes, has anyone noticed the art on the covers of the used games at Game Stop where the original cover isn't available look horrendously bad? Who the hell did they hire to do that art, the CEO's autistic son?

Or maybe the horrible art on used games is their sneaky way of getting you to buy new games instead.
