I had to ask because I have not played FFTA nor heard of it referred to that before, but thats probally because I'm not
a big fan of Final Fantasy.

Septerra core is awesome, so many twists and turns and they make it epic with so little effort.

Then I might just add the Kingdom Hearts series. It sounds like something that would fail easily but that friggin character designer totally made a series to remember. He left loose ends, picked a few for the next game but left more loose ends. Everything in the story makes sense, in a videogame - fashion at least.
It's not like most other series that just... Oh yeah... errr there is this other guy who also wants to destroy the world kill him as well.
Chain of memories and 386/2 days weren't as great story wise though. Interesting games but no mental apeal.

FFIX, it's such a lovely story.

Star ocean till the end of time. The game itself is great but it would've done well without that last plot twist with something not being what it seemed to be.

Then we have the Heroes of might and magic campaigns. They rule, especially those in HOMM3 and the expansions.
