Storyless Game - Need Help
«

I'm creating a game now, and anyone who has been around long enough knows exactly who the "I" in that sentence refers to. My games have never taken off beyond the concept stage. But I'm older now and more committed. I have many, man maps created and i have a lot of stuff to work with.
The problem is I'm using a Mac, and the way i have it set up to use windows programs, I can't use certain kets properly. Without getting into a geekspeak rant of details, betatesting and general debugging is near impossible without starting a new game every single time.
While the project was originally supposed to be open ended, it looks like I'm going to have to have an open beginning too. The problem now is what exactly do I make this game about? I have a nice world to explore with tuns of side quests in mind, but even those can't take up to many switches and variables. Or maybe they can. I don't know.
Please help

Ummmm... perhaps some screenshots of what you have done so far? Just out of curiosity, mostly.
As for actual help with the storyline. I don't know man, that's tough to help when you don't even have a general idea what you want to do. Soo, start there. Think of a genre you want to base your game in. If you have maps and ideas for sidequests, those you probably already have chosen a genre and you could draw some character ideas out of those sidequests. Just start writing ideas down for characters and conflicts between characters. You don't have to keep all of them, but as you write and form more ideas, you can choose which ones you like and which ones you don't and can start making characters and a plot. It's not going to happen very quickly, but as you do this, you'll start to make things connect and play into eachother.
Hope that was of some help.
