Passenger - Deftones

Deftones is the only band that I've consistently listened to throughout my life.
I've been listening to them since I was a kid, and I still like them.

I pretty much still love everything I've ever listened to. Some things have been played to death, sure, but I still enjoy all my favorite bands.

Tastes change, basically.
I'm not even close to being the same person that I was even 5 years ago.

But really, I didn't have my "own" taste in music for a while.
I basically listened to what my friends listened to, and what my parents listened to.
My dad's into grungy rock and things like Korn, Disturbed, etc, and my mom's....all over the place.
My best friend listened(s) to ICP, though, so yeah, not very good influences growing up.

I see. Sounds like your parents are kind of young (or perhaps feigning youth) given the info you're providing.

Frankly, I'm happy that I haven't changed much over the years. Other than basic maturing, I've always been pretty similar to my current self. I suppose my cynicism and stubbornness helped me craft my own being and reject anything that tried to change me.

My parents were '80s teens, through and through.
My mom was only 19 when she had me, if that says anything.

Honestly, this place right here had a huge part in my sense of self.
For instance, my perception of music completely changed when Michael (you guys know him as Hell Angel) introduced me to Diablo Swing, and I realized that I never quite heard anything so...energetic and happy.
It felt good, and then yeah, touchy feely emotional stuff, whatever.
