Anyone else think Saw should be banned?

Saw 1 was actually worth seeing, there was a meaning behind it. Person being bad, and his stalker tied up in the same room. Especially the end with that there person doing that there thing.
Sure, no happy ending but at least it was something.

Lately it's just been stupid and pointless ways to kill people.
I doubt anyone would enjoy life after going through all that. Personally I would bite my own tongue off to avoid it all together.

Extreme violence, gore and dismembering can be a good show. When there isn't too much. However, in Saw, it's pretty much only that.
I mean, having some poor innocent fella getting his arms ripped after some psychopath or nightmarish creature chased him or whatever is kinda tolerable.
But having people stuck in traps where they need to rip off their own arm to survive for half the movie isn't.

I didn't hate the movies I watched, but I didn't enjoy them much. There is a difference between Horror and Free Violence just for fun.

I hear the first one's good but I haven't seen any. I certainly don't think they should be banned though. Do you really want more restriction?  Just don't go see it.

Yeeeeaaaah, they're bad and all, but you can't ban things for sucking. I mean, hell, people still listen to the beastie boys.

Banning is rarely a good option. I tend feel that everything is alright, or nothing is alright, so banning just isn't something I can really get behind.

Not to mention it makes our laws really questionable. You can't depict explicit rape, but you can show graphic torture and murder in sometimes semi-erotic positions? In Saw 3 they had a young, naked woman hanging in a meat locker being tortured and killed...I'm sure there's some weirdo out there who was turned on by it- in fact, that seems to be the intent.
Yeah, I agree with Val- liking Saw is a deal-breaker. I'd always be wondering what kind of sick thoughts they were having.

Actually from what I've heard the scene in Saw 3 (I don't really remember it myself) isn't supposed to be erotic at all, just horrifying.
And yeah, the US especially seems to be much more stringent on sex than violence.

I thought the first saw was good. It didn't really have gore on it and it was thrilley. The goriest part was when they have amanda flashbacking, and that was it. I don't remember the beginning sequence much. But it really didn't have gore. I was expecting (like expecting the movie to show me not that I wanted it) to show the actual severing of the foot... or maybe they did and I havent watched it in a while.

From the 2nd on, it's all garbage.


However I'll admit that I've follow Wikipedia's read on the plot of the  movies.

Yeah, the first one left a lot of things to your imagination, which made it watchable. The other ones just got really graphic and made you kind of sick.

My friend started saying "At least it's better than Dexter!" and "Dexter is stupid. The story is ****." How dare he
use "Saw" and "Dexter" in the same sentence. They're completely different in every thinkable way possible. That like saying
that Mean Girls is better than The Deer Hunter or something!!!

EDIT: He's not even watched Dexter!!!

I love Dexter, but this new season is... disappointing so far. It better liven up quickly. Note: I haven't seen the last two episodes.

How many episodes have you watched? I've loved it so far. The only disappointing season
was 3 in my opinion, but the last few episodes perked up a lot, and it was an important season

Dexter? Its awesome, I find it weird how his parents never found out tho- oh wait you mean the serial killed? That one sucks. Never seen a single episode.

Well played. Actually, I always sort of wondered if all the mad science stuff was just Dexter playing a very strange game of make-believe with himself.

I loved seasons 1 and 2.

seasons 1 and 2 are the best I've watched. Four was pretty good. I never actully watched 3. =\ Lot of people don't like 3 or 4. 5 ain't bad, I'm pretty sure it'll be the last season.
