The games I played 2011

As a tradition people make lists of things that happened last year. I'm all about the games I played last year. Keeping track of what new flashy things came my way and entertained me.
For the third year in a row comes my list of games I bought(most likely) and played!

Some short thoughts and opinions about the games in question. Feel free to post your own.

We're starting off with the nintendo DS

DS
Pretty slow on the ds front to be honest, considered getting a 3DS but ended up putting it on hold too much. Still doesn't have one.

Pokémon White:
While traditional pokemon remains one of my favourite franchises this game had the gut to change stuff that they really haven't touched since the first game appeared like 12 years ago. We're talking about the final battle in the game, which wasn't against the leader of the elite four. The elite four could be fought in any order and beaten elite four stayed beaten, hell there was even a pokemon centre or something before the final battle.
Game itself decided not to add any of the older pokemons which I welcomed, donno how many games I've gotten a crobat, golem and alakazam by now. Sad part is that this game had new versions of said pokemon. Zubat swapped with swoopat and geodude with roggenrolla.
Best part about this game was the hard trainers / aka story characters that kept bugging you. Just like you longed for the Gary battles in B/R. Some gyms weren't all that easy either. Frigging electric gym with flyers.
Great game, still haven't caught all the legendaries, might be because none of my friends got this. Oh well.

Heroes of might and magic: clash of heroes:
I thought this would be something along the lines of strategy or FF tactics. But no, this was different. 4 factions, a pretty solid story mode and puzzle battles. Spent a lot of good times with this game and raged against the games final boss a couple hundred times. Apparently this was so well received that they released it on PSN, xbox and even on to the PC. Great game and lots of fun, my might and magic friends wouldn't even touch it with a stick though.

PSP
Realized how little love my psp had been given and bought two games after the summer pretty much.

Dissidia 012:
First off; what kind of stupid name is it? Secondly, this is basically dissidia with improved gameplay. Among many things this game had a world map, it isn't just different episodes with dungeons, you can now run on a remade FF1 world map and enter some side-dungeons and stuff. You also have the assist which makes life a little better, mostly useful to sacrifice to get out of combos. After completing the story for this game you actually unlock the entire story of Dissidia (the first one) with the new system. And after beating those you unlock some sort of "final story" which is basically all the end game episodes that dissidia had. The Shantotto thing and the gabranth thing as well as some really hard "boards". Bad part about this game is that farming materials is a biatch. Hate it, the Colosseum was useful for that in Dissidia but in 012 you don't even get to keep the stuff earned in there.

3rd birthday:
I'm glad that those creators didn't name this "Parasite eve 3" 'cuz it didn't really feel like a parasite eve game, at least not the one I remember. The story is pretty messed up with time paradoxes and stuff. Don't get why people keep bothering with this whole time travel thing. Anyway, pretty short story mode once you know what you're doing and a bunch of difficulty levels. Easy, normal, hard, brutal and deadly. Think I played through the game 18 times or so. To unlock custumes and weapons and such, and to pay for upgrades and unlock different cheats. An overall great battle system and such, fluent gameplay but that sort of linearity that these games tend to have.

PC:
Waited and waited for Diablo 3, but had to give up on it. Still waiting though.

Dragon age & additional contents:
I played through DA once on the ps3, decided to get the game for PC when they had the "complete edition" on sale, there were some additional areas with some neat items and then some side stories you could import your character to and play through. Played a rogue this time around and enjoyed doing bad stuff to people around me. Finally managed to get those elves killed among other things.
The Awakening expansion was rather interesting some new town and areas and then some characters. The golems of angarak story was pretty fun as well, although that boss was a serious pain in the arse of my dwarf. Enjoyed playing this a third time and kinda thought it worked better on a PC rather than PS3, less loading times and such.

World of warcraft Cataclysm:
Before I start - yes I know that wow is a life stealer and all that rambling. But the truth is that it is a superb game that doesn't just add stuff for the heck of it. Things exists for a reason and people around me spend 2x the money on coffee than me on WoW.
So, the new expansion added 2 new races, some new areas, more levels and see more. Stuff happened. I could fly in the common man's world and there was even some areas that followed some sort of story-based timeline. It was pretty fun, being in the same area as someone else but unable to see them because on my screen there was a huge battle, and on the other guys screen was an empty desert. There was cutscenes and other stuff that I enjoyed a lot. Although swimming ain't my thing. Daily dungeons and the same dungeons but harder. This game keeps it balanced. Always a lot of stuff to do in this game, gathering some sort of medals to get stuff, or hunting reputations, getting that pvp battleground won so that you can do some daily quests there. Great time and great fun. Although I'm all about the casual gameplay, raid nights never seem to work out for me. It went fine and it was fun but I don't play it that much.

Heroes of might and magic 6:
With ubisoft at the head of this series these days they had some backup by blackhole entertainment. I was a bit sceptic at first. They decided to change a whole lot about the gameplay. Rare resources are reduced from gems, sulfur, mercury and crystals to 1 single rare resource : crystals. So we have wood, ore, crystals and gold this time around. The factions are Haven(humans), Inferno(demons), Necropolis(y'know), stronghold(those orcs), Sanctuary(nagas and fishpeople) which are less than before. To me, the battle mechanics got more balanced and the game itself became very user friendly. You don't need caravans or such since all your castles and dwellings share the same growth and units.
When a hero levels up you get to choose what to spend that point in, those different skills and abilities known to Heroes players are gone. No more random ruling the outcome of the maps. And the hero's role is reduced to what it was in Heroes 3. Once a turn the hero can act, but unlike the older games they can use a physical attack or use a racial ability and not just spells n items. Although I like this game a lot, I still enjoy playing Heroes V, only problem with that game is the slowness of the CPU.

PS3:
Good ol' ps3.

Little big planet:
Great fun with this game, but by god I hated going online trying to get people to help out with those multipoppet puzzles. Either they didn't understand english, or they didn't get what to do, or they simply ran past them. A lot of time people started going through the course with 2 people even though the puzzle demanded 4 people.
Collecting stuff on stages are always fun, also the rewards for clearing a stage without deaths was awesome. Some new stuff that spiced up the ol' platformer games.
But of course, the best part of this game is creating your own stuff. Great customization options for pretty much everything. Even downloaded the Metal gear solid pack to get my hands on some guns, hurting paintballs, enemy projectiles and enemy health bars. Good times. Best when playing with one or more friend. Great game, thinking about getting LBP2, but still not sure.

Dragon age 2:
My first impression of this game. "Hey wait, this is like dragon age awakening..." Many times did I feel that the game made fun of me for playing both. Amarantine was replaced with Kirkwall. Unlike the previous game this one seemed more centred around doing sidequest. Hell the first story mission is pretty much to gather enough gold. Lots of fun sidequest though, just a shame that most dungeons looked the same but had different doors locked. Hell in most cases the minimap looked the same. Game got a lot more dynamic compared to DA which I honestly liked, made it fun to play a warrior again. Downside off this game is that the only able healer is Anders or yourself as a mage. Playing it on Hard I found myself downing all types of drinks since the AI don't get this whole healing business. Many times did my companions decide that it was a good idea to screw up and many times did I restart boss battles. But I like the challenge. Challenge is good, but I just wish that challenge could be more than uneven stats between me and my opponent. Overall great game but It just didn't have the same story focus that DA had or the replayability to me.

Resonance of fate:
Really interesting JRPG-thingy with guns with customization of gunparts to improve them. Also tons of customization when it came to the appearance of the characters.. Innovative gameplay but little sense to the story -  much like Star ocean new hope. Game play was fun, scratch damage and hp damage. Problem was that a third character became kinda needless, You used the character with an SMG(or two) to build up scratch damage, then you used your gunslinger to shoot that scratch damage to actually deal damage. The third character pretty much stood there. Gameplay remained interesting and placing hexes on the world map to unlock bonuses. Sidequests where handed out at an office and depended on which chapter you were on. Overall great game, but as I said, more gameplay than story. The story really didn't make much sense, got most sense of it by reading the wikipedia article funny enough.

PS2
PS2?! Really?! Yeah, I actually played a new ps2 games.

Devil may cry 3 special edition:
To me - this one beats DMC4, had a whole lot more fun with this. I expected something more special that 3 jester battles and the story mode played through with Virgil instead of dante though. Felt kinda lame. I wanted some other sort of story. Oh well.  Great game with stylish comboes and fun weapons. Different styles/ classes that spice things up and those pesky missions to earn orbs. Great fun though.

N64
Actually these were played on the Wii, but I downloaded them so yeah.

Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask:
While i absolutely loved Ocarina of time I never actually finished majoras mask. Maybe it had something to do with that blasted moon and the 3 days but back when I was a kid I borrowed this from my cousin but never finished it. I remember getting to the turtle and getting stuck in the goddamn water temple (CURSE YOU WATER TEMPLES!!!). Played it and gained them masks and unlocked thing after thing, realized that the great fairy mask allowed me to sense those pesky fairies inside the dungeons ect. Also, fighting Odolwa again was awesome. Downside of this game? It feels like it's more centred around sidequests. There are only 4 dungeons in this game + the final boss, fun part is that you can replay those bosses. A lot of quests didn't make much sense to me - a person who doesn't like guides. I mean how was I supposed to know that i had to enter the Inn at a certain time on day 1 to start the whole Kafei sidequest?

Super smash bros:
This game is still hilarious to play, some things are so broken and the great fox is THE best stage. Kirby is an ***hole and cp falcon is the boss. Man I just love gathering some friends and playing this again, most of the N64 controlers are broken so I'm thankful that nintendo threw this out on the Wii store. Great fun and nostalgia.

Gamecube
That old piece of purple block sure hosted some fun games.

F-zero GX:
Like the N64 f-zero game this one features a whole bunch of tracks, music and racers with different stats. You can even customize your own vehicle. Taking part of a race with 29 other racers is something else and the controls of this game is just working for me. Every part of my body enjoys the challenge and fun which is F-zero. It's happiness all friggin day long. The story mode's hard and very hard missions are really something else when it comes to difficulty and I still haven't been able to beat those 3 last ones of very hard. Multiplayer on this game is great, I only miss those other 26 CPU controlled racers. There's a limit of 4 racers in the multiplayer mode. Still havign a blast with my friends.

Star fox assault:
Many different opinions about this game. I personally think it's a pretty darn fun game, especially the multiplayer mode. Unfortunately some characters are way better than others. Such as Wolf with his über stats, falco with hsi amazing speed or krystal with double barriers. Had some great time playing sniper games or remote controled missile games, or all landmaster brawl out. Great game, great fun.

WII
Surprised that I've only gotten like 2 games for the wii this year. Been playing a lot of monster hunter tri, replayed twilight princess and such. Also, thinking about getting kirbys adventure but never got around doing that.

Donkey kong country returns:
To admit something, I sucked *** at those old SNES or N64 DK games, I just kept dying. This time around I took a friend and we played this new game coop. This game is a great platformer with those basic platformer things. First of all the stages have secrets, secrets that makes you want to replay the stage to get them all. You have the KONG letters to unlock the secret stages of a world and then the puzzle pieces to unlock something really unecessary. But I'm still doing it. Because it's a challenge to find those blasted things. I also like the boss battles of this game. They actually make you lose some extralives from time to time. And by golly, those special stages unlocked by finding all the KONG letters are wonderful. Wonderful as in "no-margin challenging", they frustrate you and pisses you off. You scream "OH C'MON!!!" at the screen when the creators laugh at the trick that just got you killed. Still haven't finished this one though. Great game for those who like platformers and also have a friend who can play with you.

Legend of zelda skyward sword:
Skyward sword is brave and trying out something new while Majoras Mask, Windwaker and Twilight princess pretty much followed the same formula which was Ocarina of time. For starters you wake up with 6 hearts instead of 3, enemies tend to actually damage you a whole heart with attacks. Shields have durability which decreases when blocking and ends up breaking, the pouch holds 4-8 items and among them are shields, bottles/potions, medals with passive buffs and ammo bags such as the bomb bag. Potions are useful and upgradeable to make them even more useful. Even those nifty equipments can be upgraded. For example the bugnet can be upgraded to a larger size which makes it easier to catch bugs(and birds!) and the shield can be upgraded to get more durability.
Catching bugs is all optional though but needed to upgrade potions, of course you can also sell them at night. Great moneymaker. And then we have materials which is pretty much dropped by enemies on a daily basis. Great fun, nothing that really needs farming since you won't actually need more than 10 of each thing.
The game isn't as detailed graphically as twilight princess but still looks great, and the best thing of all spoilers ahead: The water temple wasn't a huge pain in the ***. Hell I didn't even had to swim in the boss fight.
I like the gameplay, the new cutting is working well with enemies that actually block attacks and bosses that aren't all about "insert bomb here 3 times". Loving this game.

Nintendo Entertainment System
Godzilla: Monster of Monsters
Played this years ago when I was young, remembered it. Finished it in one sit through, took me eight hours of smashing everything. While it isn't the best game, and the NES has troubles with handling all the graphics at once, the game is quite entertaining. It has some serious repetition faults though, so not everyone might like it. I do praise the level system. Each world is a planet, going from Earth to Venus to Mars all the way past all our planets to Planet X. Each planet exists of a hexagon (if I remember well) grid and moving your character from point A to portal B requires you to pick a route and play the levels along the way. The bosses are a bit weirdly done. Each planet introduces a new boss, stacking up the previous one, and the gameplay changes to a fighting game. There's a time limit, which isn't visible, that will end the battle even if none has one. The boss will then have gained a small bit of a health and you fight again. Lots of classic Godzilla enemies as bosses though, with King Ghidorah waiting at Planet X.

Metal Gear
The start of a great saga, but sadly a port to an inferior platform. While I haven't played the original version on the MSX2, this one falls flat. A lot is lacking, some bosses were changed and features removed. Though, the game is still playable and one can see past the faults. Fun old classic stealth gameplay, some good bosses such as the Shotgunner and Flamethrower, and a nice view of what was before the franchise became highly popular.

Super Mario Bros.
Finally got around to beat this game. There's not much too say, basically everyone knows Mario here. Good old fun platformer, well worth playing.

Wizards & Warriors
An underdog in my opinion, as anyone rarely talks about it. Highly entertaining action platformer, but some really frustrating levels in there. Simple story, go through all levels to save the princess defeating bosses along the way. The bosses can be a real pain in the *** as well.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Donkey Kong Country
A really good instalment for the SNES. It has solid gameplay, enjoyable characters and some fun bosses.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
A true sequel, though a lot more frustrating than the first. Added some new features. Though DK isn't a playable character, Dixie Kong sufficed. I usually played with Diddy in both anyways.

Mortal Kombat 3
An old classic fighter, really difficult. Takes a while to get the hang of it but god damn I love MK.

Nintendo 64
HeXen
While I haven't beaten this yet, I really love this game. First Person Melee, great underused genre. Well worth your time and fun to play co-op.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Another one of the few I haven't finished but I loved what I did play. I really love that you have to play with a set deadline, puts some pressure to the game. Gameplay wise it's basically a copy of Ocarina of Time, might be some new features here in and there but I haven't played it enough to really tell.

Wave Racer 64
Used to play this all the time with a friend when I was younger. If you only like racing games that try something new, Wave Racer 64 is for you. Jetski racing, love it.

Nintendo Gamecube
Mission Impossible: Operation Surma
Another one I haven't finished, but I loved it for what I did play. Good solid game. Doesn't do too much special, but games doesn't always need to.

Pikmin
I really loved this game, from start to end. Again one with a set deadline, but also with a massive "army" at your disposal. If you have a Gamecube, this is a must get. The puzzles don't require so much thinking, but rather time management. You only got a set time to get as much done as possible, and as a completionist I had to get as much as possible. Managed to do it first try.

Resident Evil Remake
While I have never played the original RE, I have been a huge fan of 2, 3, Code Veronica and the two Outbreak games. From what I have seen of the original, this is a true remake. It doesn't only upgrade the graphics and gameplay, but it also added much new content. This game is totally worth getting.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
I loved the original and I loved this one. Added many character, lots of new items and arenas. Enjoyable with friends and even against the computer. Link still remains my favourite character in this game though.

Nintendo Gameboy
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
While I didn't like the game too much when I started, it grew on me. It took some time but I must say it's a dandy fine instalment in the series. Also glad to not see Ganon(dorf) as a main enemy. Game wasn't all too difficult though, but there were some annoying dungeons in there.

Sega Mega Drive
Managed to get this baby this year, hell yes.

Micky Mania
Not finished but liked it. Played it on the PSX years before though. Though, the jumping feels a bit off. Isn't the best game out there.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Classic must get.

Super Street Fighter II
Always been a fan of Street Fighter, kicked some *** with Ryu. Good solid fighting game on par with MK3 in my opinion.

The Terminator
Really short and highly difficult. A pain in the *** to finish. While it only has four levels, which roughly translates into 30 minutes gameplay max, it took a lot of time to master the game.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Haven't finished it because I rage quit. God damn, they made it even more difficult. Insane driving sequences, sod off.

Personal Computer
Super Meat Boy
Beaten the light world, not all of the dark ones yet. The fun comes out of the frustration but it really changed my mind on indie games.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
Been a major fan of the original Dawn of War and this game was the logical next step. They already did all they could with the previous game. It's the small personalised squads that made me feel much closer with the characters and had to develop some solid tactics. Can't wait to play this co-op with Dom soon, and also play Chaos Rising with I just got.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Yugi the Destiny
Not even sure how I got this game, but I suggest everyone skips it. Only one enemy, there must be better games of the franchise out there.

Playstation
Final Fantasy VI
Not a fan at all. The large amount of characters was extremely useless since basically everyone could learn the same stuff, the story was mediocre and Kefka was a worthless protagonist.

Oddworld: Abe's Exodus
Loved it, loved it, loved it. Great comedy, fun gameplay. If only I had an original Xbox so I could play Munch's Odyssey and Stranger's Wrath.

One Piece: Grand Battle!
A very unbalanced fighting game. Not so in characters, because that's pretty solid, and they also incorporated the unique abilities from the manga in the gameplay, but the combat system itself. You can guard everything, and the CPU knows it as well.

Spyro the Dragon
Another classic and I love it, get it for sure. Not all too difficult, but a great 3D platformer.

Playstation 2
Canis Canem Edit
Might also be known as Bully, it's basically a GTA clone on high school. I do tend to like GTA clones, it was a fun game. Really incorporate the stereotypical view of high school, solid gameplay and a wacky enjoyable story.

Cold Fear
A true Survival Horror and with some great features. First half of the game is on a ship, second on an oil rig. Beginning was a tad more difficult than the later sections since I was out of ammo a lot.

Evil Dead: Regeneration
Fun action game of a great horror film. Good dark comedy used and Bruce Cambell's voice made it perfect.

Godzilla: Unleashed
Not the best game, but the fun comes with how bad the game is. Don't take this one seriously, because one shouldn't take a Godzilla film seriously. It's a wacky fighting game and great to play with friends; up to 4 players even on the PS2 version, though get the Wii version for more characters.

Killzone
Started it a lot of times and finally got to finish it, made me proud to be a Dutch. I liked that they didn't add a jump function like most FPS games tend to do. While the story is basically WWII in the future, it was still highly entertaining.

Max Payne
Not sure if this game started the while bullet time thing (in game, I mean, not overall), but it did it well. Great story, comics for cut scenes were brilliant, and solid action gameplay.

Medal of Honor: Frontline
Not a good instalment. Can't remember all too much from it, which is quite bad.

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance

Mortal Kombat Armageddon
As stated before, I'm an MK fan. Adding multiple fight stances per character in Deadly Alliance was a great thing, Konquest mode was a delicious addition to Deception and I loved seeing almost all characters in Armageddon. Three solid games, but I'd still vote Deception as the best. One would say Armageddon since the large roster and Kreate a Fighter mode, but Deception had Chess and Puzzle, as well as 3 fighting stances per character instead of the reduced 2 in Armageddon.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4
Solid fighting game, not much to say about it.

Obscure
Goddamn I loved this game, instant favourite. Survival Horror to the best. One of the best features? Characters can die at any time in the story and it affects the ending. Also playable co-op.

Obscure 2
While they removed the feature I loved most in the previous one, they killed of a lot of the characters themselves. A good solid story and some improved gameplay aspects in terms of combat.

Project Zero
Might also be known as Fatal Frame, great Survival Horror that doesn't put focus on combat. Your weapon is a camera. Quite freaky to play at night, can be scary at times.

No clue what I played this year (mostly hard to remember what was this year and what was last year), but I remember playing the hell out of Battlefield 3. Also Saints Row The Third, Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Skyrim, uh... Dead Island... Oh, Uncharted... MGS2... Skyward Sword...

Yeah, I can only really remember the last two months, really.

Oh, Rock Band. I play that like an addict. The actual disk has cracks running through it. It's a miracle it still works.

Metal Gear

This has always taken the cake for worst port ever, imo. They replaced Metal gear as the last boss... with a giant computer. What.

I only beat Gears, Batman, and Saints Row. To death, in fact. And I've played two of those games within the last 24 hours.

Here are the ones I've played the most.

PC:
Minecraft - I put a lot of time into one world, and I'm a bit reluctant to start a new one to see the new content from the updates. @_@
Cthulhu Saves the World - Awesome game. Didn't expect to put over 60 hours into it, but the replayability is great. Played through it 5 times (normal mode, the extra campaign, both of those again on the hardest difficulty, and Highlander mode)
Giants: Citizen Kabuto - One of my favorites that I bought from Good Old Games. Some levels were a big sudden difficulty spike, though.
Septerra Core - Bought it last Christmas during GOG's sale but never got around to actually playing it until recently. Some battles can be painfully slow (damn zombies) but it was a pretty fun game overall.
Indigo Prophecy - Great beginning and middle, terrible end.  

DS:
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective - Had me hooked from start to finish.
Dragon Quest 6 - Not as good as 5 but still a solid RPG.
Theresia - Took a risk buying this game because I had never really heard of it, but it turned out to be pretty enjoyable. And creepy. Who puts needle traps in practically every bookshelf and box in the building?

Wii:
Phantom Brave: We Meet Again - Very fun strategy RPG, but not as humorous as Disgaea and Makai Kingdom.

DSiWare:
Alphabounce - Hard mode probably took about 100 hours to finish completely.
Puzzle Quest - Played as a warrior. Deathbringer is an awesome spell, I had enough fire mastery to win any battle with it in the first round (unless the spell is blocked).
Picdun - Interesting first person dungeoncrawler. You can finish a floor in the dungeon just by finding the exit, or you can step on every tile to complete it, which usually involves some sort of puzzle.

3DS:
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles - Kind of repetitive, I need to get around to finishing it sometime.
Super Street Fighter IV - I'm terrible at fighting games but still had a lot of fun with this one.
Dead or Alive: Dimensions - Ditto, but I didn't like this one as much as SF4. Somehow I managed to finish everything except for the 100-round survival match. That's not going to happen anytime soon...
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked - Almost didn't buy this game because I already have the DS version, but it was fun playing through it again with all the new additions.
Super Mario 3D Land - Very fun game, loved every minute of it.
Freakyforms - Pretty neat downloadable game, but I like creating things a lot more more than I liked playing the levels.

Minecraft - I put a lot of time into one world, and I'm a bit reluctant to start a new one to see the new content from the updates. @_@

Depending on when you last played you'd probably be dissapointed anyway. Notch took the game in a stupid direction.

I've played Pokemon SoulSilver and Pokemon Black.  Love both of them.  Currently at the Elite Four in both.  Black is the first time I have ever chosen the water starter on the first play-through.  I also bought Final Fantasy III and Digimon World: Dawn (Or something like that) a week ago.  I didn't like the digimon game at first, but then after I played it a bit I found that it had more than what I thought.  Final Fantasy III is really good so far too.  I also got Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii.  Not too bad.  I also got FFV/VI for the PS and I liked them.  One of them I died and I couldn't figure out how to save and I lost about 3 hrs of gameplay.  Needless to say I didn't pick that up for a while.  The multiplayer is interesting.  It makes battles move a little quicker.  I also downloaded the Sims 3.  That's fun.  Sims Medieval is okay, but it doesn't run well on my laptop.  Plus its a little confusing on what you're supposed to do. That's all my gaming this past year.

That's... pretty much it.  Oh and I bought minecraft.  Pretty cool.  I've only got so far as to make a tree.

Three solid games, but I'd still vote Deception as the best.  Deception had Chess and Puzzle, as well as 3 fighting stances per character instead of the reduced 2 in Armageddon.

Septerra Core - Bought it last Christmas during GOG's sale but never got around to actually playing it until recently. Some battles can be painfully slow (damn zombies) but it was a pretty fun game overall.

The slowness of the ATB is the games biggest problem, but there's something special about that game. Good times, good times.

DS:
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective - Loved it. The twists were really well-executed. But I feel that it was too short.
Pokemon Black - It was okay. But two problems that I had were the lack of variety in the trainer battles, and the annoying not-Garys. They were always too easy, making running back to the Pokecenter to heal one Pokemon a real chore. (I like having them all ready to go before a new area).


NES:
Batman - So close. SOOOO CLOSE. I was so close to finally getting to the joker. But then I had to move the console back so others could use the TV. Since then, I haven't felt like going through those ANNOYING AS **** leaping enemies finishing it.


PC:
Serious Sam - Started a multiplayer game with my brother and I can only say that I love it. There's no way to explain how it plays. I just like to shoot silly-looking monsters with any weapon imaginable with infinite respawns. It's awesome.
Team Fortress 2 - I've had this game for a whole year before I finally got around to playing it. Now I regret it not playing sooner. I'm reluctant to play online-centered games like this because people can be real attention-whores. But, in the online games I've played, conversation does stick to the current strategy without too much noobie-bashing or hat-glorifying. It's really fun. My most-played game of the year. My Steam ID is also X_marks_the_ed, just putting it out there.


PS1:
Crash Bandicoot series - I played the first game again to race against my brother to see who could beat it first. He gave up on Slippery Climb. But I ended up finishing the rest of the game again with all gems and keys. Then, I went on to do the same for the other two. The games really get easy over time, but not the least bit boring.
Dragon Warrior 7 - Okay, I haven't finished it yet, but I'm almost done. I actually found it hard to stay focused. When I would play, it would easily be for four or five hours at a time, but it was just difficult to always choose its icon on my PSP when my GBA emulator and Cave Story were right next to it.


PSP:
Itadaki Street Portable - I like Dragon Quest. I love Monopoly. Final Fantasy 8 was okay. So, I spent a few months alone on this game. It's a lot like Monopoly, but with the twist of a stock system. Even if you owned no shops, you could still just easily win by investing in the right streets. Shame it's only in Japanese. I got really far on my own translation patch (All menus, cards, streets, shops, character names and bios, tutorials and a bunch of other stuff done), but I just don't have the interest anymore (and Google Translate only works so well).  Plus, the next Wii game will be was released in the US as Fortune Street, so what was the point?


Wii:
Donkey Kong Country Returns - I don't like the minecart levels. I really don't like them. They're not hard, but I just don't like how annoying they can get. I slip up easily and have to go so far back. Still a good game, though.

Terraria
According to steam I've logged 124 hours on this game. I'm amazed its not more. Combining exploration with combat with the ability reshame ones terrain? Yeah. I played through the game in single player until getting to hard mode bosses, and then teamed up with some bros to take them all down and get some hallowed. 124 hours and it cost me $2.50. That's two cents an hour. You can't beat that sort of value with a stick.

Portal 2
I was all worried that Portal 2 wouldn't be as good as 1 because it had a higher emphasis on characters this time, but really 90% of it was just puzzle-room based challenges, which I love, with different characters bantering at the start and end. It was also much, much longer than 1, and harder too. I got seriously stumped on a few rooms, which was great since that flat out didn't happen to me in 1. The downsides were the unstructured, un-room areas where you're just desperately panning around for a portal surface hidden in the rafters somewhere, but, other than the beginning of chapter 6, there wasn't too much of that.

Civilization V
Good for eating up an afternoon. That's about it. The game moves soooo slowly that I never realize I'm having any fun, yet I've played through like half the achievements by now.

Half Life 2
You know, I've never played this or any game on the PC really like it. So I had no idea what to expect. I still don't, actually. I'm only like an hour into the game. But I DID like that hour. I'll play more when I have the time. There's over a dozen games like this that aren't even getting mentioned because I simply haven't been able to get an afternoon to crack them open since the holidays.

3DS

Pilotwings Resort
There isn't much content here, but I will admit it uses the 3D effects probably better than any game I've seen on the 3DS. It just looks pretty. Good for unwinding after a stressful day for about a half hour; not so much for sitting down and wanting to beat a game.

Legend of Zelda OoT 3D
This was the game that turned me off from remakes unless I have near absolute assurance that there's serious new content. Could have at least given us a new dungeon, douchebags. Other than some tutorial stones, it's just OoT, and the original OoT is very playable.

Super Mario 3D Land
Certainly not a bad game, but feels lazy really. There's not even any themed "lands" like grass, water, big - it's all just randomly assigned levels followed by a boss fight at the end, and then on to the next world. I think I got bored in like the 5th world, and honestly it didn't take me too long to get there, so the game feels sort of empty.

Mario Kart 7
Solid Mario Kart game with a few ups and downs. I *love* the flying parts, though they're terrifying since red and blue shells CAN hit you in mid air. The underwaters parts are less fun, and like half the levels have them, so they feel overused. New items are okay, though the "7" item is actually really tricky to use since you can accidentally activate a bomb when you wanted a star and blow yourself up. And seriously, get rid of the goddamn blue shells. They should have gone the way of that awful POW block like a decade ago.


I'm just gunna stop here since I have something to do at 2. I'm not much of a gamer anymore really, but I got a lot of my games for free and they're mostly fun, sot hat's nice.

See.... I always had a problem with the guy.  I almost lost to him a few times.  Same with Trainer N.  But, I also never grind, so my pokemon are always at the same levels as my opponent.  (Except now I'm at the league and I'm much lower...  I was beaten by ONE of their pokemon in my first battle.)
