Just played HOME and I can already say I LOVE the fact The Judge not only breaks the Fourth Wall but pretty much grinds it to dust and scatters it to the four winds! XD It helps his tone reminds me of a Doctor Who incarnation! So sophisticated and snobbish yet not totally unlikable. The universe setup itself is like nothing I've ever seen and oooh the graphics! @-@ Simple but perfect symmetry!! The battle system took me for a loop at first. XD Rather...basic and yet also cleverly designed. "Abscond" instead of Flee or Run. XD Love that. I'm trying Zone 1 right now cause I felt even though it showed me other zones and gave me the choice I knew it would be a bad idea to try one of the higher areas before I had mastered the basics. Two critisims though: One you tell people to play OFF first but you offer no link? <.< Felix! Foreshame. I raised you better that once-young-squire-now-turned-knight...Well I mean I tried to raise you in some ways but you were like the Tamogotchi I lost as a boy and am quite certain didn't live very long. ^^; Two: your battlers don't move much despite being animations. I suppose that saved you time but I'm one who always loves to tinker with the various poses and things in battle and see them when I'm playing an RPG maker game. Some of them, liek the victory and casting pose, are hints at the character's personality. I will amend however it flows so smoothly it's hard to tell right away and the enemies are very well balanced so far. All in all? I LOVE IT!! =D
I suppose when it's a fan game you don't want to change too much that's true. Also I just saw that statuses change the battlers a tiny bit and when the judge died I saw there was indeed more thna a simple flickering out moment. I love the balance of the battle system! O.o The EXP given is descent even in random battles but not insane and the skills themselves are effective but only if you spend them often enough. The varried type of enemies makes you have to use the scan system quite often making it feel like more than a curiosity but rather a tool! Good work there. Also just met Alain and I have to say I found it both humorous and disturbing that he wanted to EAT ME! XD I mean what the heck! Weirdest starting party ever: Snob with ultra-awareness of his world and a uber hungry psychopath. XD Man I just cant get enough of this. Oh and when this bit of dialogue appeared I laughed out loud so hard:
Well, for both of you. Zone 4's library has a bug in one of the last puzzles of that area. I've since updated the download link to have that puzzle fixed. http://www.mediafire.com/download/89jrly6pq87jsju/Home.rarLink to the download so you don't have to go searching or it.
Fanart is one thing.... but this is beyond.
Aww! I can't right now. <.< Two reasons: I can't get a ride for a bit and I"M GOING TO STRANGLE YOU for making a Zelda Classic styled sequence maze. >-<; I HATE THESE SO MUCH! XO Worse yet your instructions didn't help me at all. - -; having to scratch out my own map on my notepad.Steampunk really suits that OFF/HOME style! XD Gotta say that's awesome though. Still doesn't make up for your sequence maze causing me to lose my already thinning hair but it's cool.
Finally got to try this out myself, Mr O, and I have say it's just as demented as I thought it'd be. But it has a strangely addictive battle system and The Judge's snide comments seem to bolster my resolve for some reason. I like how your game's battle speed is enhanced and makes the ATB active more of a challenge too. The unique sets of enemies are fun and challenging. Honestly never appreciated Scan as Spell in an indie game before till this moment. But that scene with those cows split in half was more than a little gross. Good thing 2003's graphics resolution is so small and non-detailed in places. I'm hopping the rest of the game isn't as gory though. Oh one last thing: the battle screen being so artsy fratsy is actually cool! That must have saved you some time and effort designing each battle huh? Mind if I borrow that technique? Of I had thought of that during Zoltar: Some Kind Super Natural Story it would have helped cut down on work time. Totally score play score so far: and one half cause those cows grossed me out.
