Trust me, they're tied there for a reason. They didn't wander far, but they definitely did leave the town undefended for several nights in a row. The entire population was killed off while they were dicking around in the pond or wandering out behind the village.

Only one lucky soul was spared. I had to repopulate the village myself. I'm sure there's no sexual connotation to what I've just said, either.

This sounds like the perfect opening for a fantasy novel.

Man, the stories of this Minecraft world could easily be the basis of the next community chain game...

Day Four: Edge of the World

I've finally found a plot of land that, with a little pruning, is perfect for my home. I've cleared the land, laid the foundation, and started drawing up some blueprints. A friend of mine who has been playing with us decided to try and find distant lands. I accompanied him on the voyage, and we sailed south (which looks like north on the map on the front page). After hitting another continent and continuing until we hit water, we decided to sail beyond the edges of the map. Sadly, against everything I'd learned in school, the world is quite flat, and we fell right off the edge, plummeting to our deaths. We learned that the world is quite a small place, though it feels large at first. As a reward for our fatal exploration, we died heroes and established a cold, hard truth: Get used to what you see, because that's all there is.

I also showed Zesher (A.K.A. DragonBlaze) a little bit about redstone. It was a fun little lesson.

It's big enough to go anywhere you want and do anything you want, other than to spend your life walking around the wold.

Indeed it is limited, but it's still pretty large.

Guys, we have a big problem... I think our golems are depressed. I know it's very disturbing to hear, but it's true. I was walking through the village today when I saw this sad guy.

For whatever reason, he just looks so sad and lonely to me lol.

Day Five: A Grave Secret

A bit of external planning, model building, and further resource gathering has put me slightly further into construction of my home. It's still going to be a while, but the first room is taking shape. A graveyard has sprung up at the edge of the town, as if overnight. I suppose the villagers had to bury their dead sometime. It's been a couple of days since that one fateful zombie raid. There seems to be something odd about  the place, however. Perhaps there's more to it than mere corpses and decrepit-yet-new tombs?

Finally settled in on a place off the coast, south of spawn in a mountainous area.

Protecting the villagers is a tough job (especially when you fail so frequently) and the villagers don't even seem to appreciate all the hard work the golems do. It's a sad tale. :,(

Day Six: The Day Archem Never Came Back

So I was barely on yesterday, and at some point I said "BRB", but never actually returned. I did find myself stuck at the bottom of the ocean for a night when some clay gathering went horribly awry and a thunderstorm and millions of monsters spawned above me. I suppose that would have been a more exciting opening to this log entry, but whatever.

Alright, I probably won't join right away, but I most likely will at some point. For when I do, my user name is Cierber.

By the way, the grave yard has become a VERY dangerous place with a lot of secrets. There may be some great rewards if you check it out in the middle of the night, if you survive...

Day Seven: The End of the Beach

I finished baking bricks for my fire pit, and it looks fantastic! A nice light source that also looks great really helps fill out a room, and since I'm still exposed to the elements, it adds a degree of safety by significantly reducing the level of darkness in the area. Dren also made a few adjustments to the decidedly unnatural beach that I'm building near. You see, instead of sand, more than a small stretch of the beach was made up of Endstone. Well, that is now remedied, and the beaches look great... Well, except for my gravel beach, but I can fix that.
