I haven't played around with the NPCs much, but I did notice that all the custom NPCs are gone from spawn. I wonder if they just wander off and get lost.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

I think we figured it out. If you use the /butcher command on the server, it deletes all NPCs everywhere. So yeah, no more of that. I'll leave a note on the first post for OP'd players. Remember to use the NPC Clone tool to backup any NPC you create.

No plans for that, I just figured we've got quite a few people who don't visit charas-forum and are on the server so I set up a central place where anyone interested can communicate with everyone on the server. I doubt it'll take off, but it only took me five minutes to set up.
But certainly, publicly opening the server is something I am interested in. It would require everyone to prepare themselves though by anti-griefing their stuff and all that... 'fun' other stuff. I'd also have to go through a bunch of securities and mods and make absolutely certain things were grief proof and correctly configured in regards to who and how permissions work for individual mods... For instance, we probably don't want people crafting NPC wands
But yeah, I suppose that conversation will inevitably happen, just not right this moment. Especially with mods being slow to transition to 1.7.
By the way: Would you mind starting a topic on the sky city project? I'm really interested in helping you with that after seeing what's been done with it. With the airships mod it really needs to be a central part of the server(because it's awesome).
(Also, did you know adding engine blocks to ships make them move faster? I just figured that out.)

Haha I'll start a topic about the sky city tonight. But how ever did you manage to find it?? Even with knowing the general area it was in, it took me like 20 minutes to find it with my airship :p
Damn I wish I knew about the engines before. I wonder how fast a ship composed of just engines and balloons would go...

haha, I know. The engines make everything better. Also, since no one is using the forums yet and the server has been kinda dead. I'd like to make a proposal here.
I recently changed the server jar files to MCPC+, what this does is allow for bukkit plugins and forge mods to work together. There seems to be an incompatibility between NPC mod and MCPC+, which is a shame. You may have noticed how NPCs die when the chunk is loaded. All the other mods work. However, NPC mods was recently updated to 1.6.4. If you're wondering why we haven't updated to 1.7 you can find info

as to why mods in general haven't updated to 1.7.
tl;dr
1.7 has brought a lot of changes to the base code of Minecraft and is setting mod developers back longer than usual. To that end, I would like to bring up the idea of going public. I have a few ideas for how the server would basically run. Obviously, we got a small staff so we're going to need Bukkit plugins (hence, MCPC+) to create permissions, grief protection, and all that fun stuff. I'm learning how to set up permissions now. To that end, I'm putting buildcraft on the chopping block. It's not as cool as I remember it being and I think I may very well be the only one on the server who's used it anyway. The other downside is if we decide to go public, preliminary research into servers running buildcraft show it can cause a lot of lag if people are setting up a ton of quarries and pipes everywhere. So getting rid of it might be a good idea.
To my proposition (sorry, I know this is disorganized) I'm thinking we try and update to 1.6.4 while waiting for mods to update to 1.7. If we go public, we can do it on 1.7. We can set up an economy, quests, and general mythos with Noppes NPC mod for the mainland. Using bukkit plugins, only designated players would be allowed to place/break blocks on the mainland. Designated players being those on the server now/future charasians/friends/anyone trustworthy. By mainland I mean anything on the server within 5000x5000 blocks of origin spawn, the world I created in WorldPainter. There's been a teleport command block in the back of the graveyard for about a month or so now that takes you roughly 100000 blocks into naturally generating minecraft chunks. This could be designated as an open ended PvP area or "wilderness" as often referred to on many other minecraft servers, where players can build, set up protections for their homebases, mine and gather resources while returning to Super Massive to complete quests and explore that world.
That's the basic idea. I'm thinking it may be wise to reduce our mods to Noppes NPC and Archimedes Mods. Buildcraft should almost definitely be removed while Twilight Forest can probably stay as well. Twilight Forest is great for providing players with more opportunity to gather items and resources before venturing onto the Mainland where they will be forced to use only what they've collected and what they can get in the economy or through quests (since they won't be allowed to mine/build/place blocks on the mainland).
Archimedes mod would certainly have to be restricted entirely to the "Inner Elite" of players already on the server and yada yada. Crafting of Archimedes blocks can be restricted and future plans can be considered for how to potentially allow players to gain access to their own airship. The worry here is again server lag if too many people are flying airships. I haven't looked into how this has played out on other servers attempting to run archimedes mod.
What does you guys think? I'm fairly sure I'll be updating to 1.6.4 regardless. I'd like to hear input on the going public proposal as well as the situation with the mods.
Those are the basic concepts I have for a public server, which wouldn't happen until probably sometime in January.

Hey I used the server. Though I logged in today and someone been messing with my area. All my chickens and sheep are gone, as well as most of my cows.
As for using the Forums, I forget this is here.

Server will be down for update to 1.6.4. Mods will update. User will need to update to 1.6.4 forge and all mods as well. I figured I'd do it now since it's Christmas and no one's on these few days anyway.
EDIT: Well... that was much easier than originally thought. MCPC+ 1.6.4 is a huge success. Noppes NPC no longer conflicts and we get full version of worldedit as well as a load of other awesome Bukkit Plugins. Also, Buildcraft removed. Unless people say they want it back, it'll stay that way. One less mod to worry about when updating!
Updating is easy. Follow all the directions the same with the installer. The installer will create a new modded profile for 1.6.4, feel free to delete your Forge 1.6.2 profile as there is only one mods directory and having mods from two different versions of minecraft will cause any forge profile you have installed to crash. So do that then delete your old versions of the mods and replace them.
Pro Tip, Most reliable source to download Mods from is Minecraftforum.net. All reputable mod developers keep well-updated threads there.

Follow that link for a real time map of the world. You'll have to hover over the right field of the map and selected "super massive v1.0/flat" because the other worlds haven't rendered yet. Online players are visible, buildings and roads are visible. There are a ton of settings that I'm sifting through. I wanted to make it so you could only see the mainland with this map.
Also, further updates with Bukkit plugins. WorldGuard has been installed on the server. This will allow OPs to create protected zones, example, dungeons where you cannot break blocks. Towns where mobs do not spawn and PvP is disabled. In addition to that ProtectionStones and ProtectAnimals have been installed. By placing an Iron, Gold or Diamond Block down on your land, you will create a protected area in which only you can build/open chests/use furnaces/etc. Also, within that protected, non-hostile mobs will be protected from damage by other players. Here are the specs:
Iron Blocks create a 5x5x5 protection area around themselves.
Gold Blocks create a 10x10x10 protection area around themselves.
Diamond Blocks create a 25x25x25 protection area around themselves.
I may change the settings to allow the Y axis to cover from bedrock to sky. Or maybe only Gold Blocks and Diamond Blocks will provide that coverage? We'll see.

It is kinda creepy that anyone can watch anyone playing without logging in, but fun at the same time.
I updated my client (and my buddy's client) to work with the updates, and so far so good. I am a tad disappointed that buildcraft was removed as I was going to make a sleezy bar and use the buildcraft lasers for it, but no big deal. I couldn't figure the lasers out anyway...
Also, I think the redstone repeaters are all bugged out now. They will either hold on to a charge forever or they will not pass a charge on at all (even if it's right next to a power source). I wonder if any of the updates broke them?
Finally I made a post on your forums about the floating kingdom we are working on. It's sweet.

It's a bit odd, yes. I'll be removing the health meters at some point, that way you can only tell where people are, not their health. This is assuming PvP would be enabled on a public server.
