I liked the games, but it was mostly because of the new additions to it, like the two bicycle types, the ash collecting, the secret base that you could decorate by using hidden power on specific places, weather effects on the overworld, castform, diving spots.
Not to mention the Regi sidequest thingy with the doors written in braille that you needed to do special crap to unlock, also the fact that they were actually hidden. It kinda reminded me of the ruins of alpha in G/S/C, myseries and stuff. The latest games have been all "you progresses the story naturally, here have a legendary encounter in the middle of the road" or just add everything that's roaming to the newest games. I miss when there was a bit more effort and wierd *** conditions.
Also, emerald was the first game to actually add a battle frontier worth playing.
Also, been a month since the Smash direct, I expected them to have given us some more info by now.
Also3, Age of Mythology steam edition thingy was released today.

Indifference, I can understand. Disappointment? Are you ****ing serious? A remake of one of their past games has become a standard by now, and playing a game in a fashion where it's been updated is no reason to be disappointed. Perhaps if they teased some awesome new game that turned out to be a remake, then you could have something to lean on, but an announcement with zero buildup is in no way open to disappointment.
I'm excited for it since I missed the boat on Gen. 3 back in the day. From what I've seen and heard, they had some really cool ideas going on, and a lot of the Pokémon designs seemed interesting to me. The fact that Gen. 3 Pokémon seem to be the most ignored returning Pokémon also adds a sense of mystery to the whole thing for me, since I know little to nothing about a lot of them, even down to not knowing of a bunch of them even existing. For me, it's not just a remake, it
is
a new game, and I'm hyped to get it in a shiny new package.

I believe disappointment is perfectly justified. It was inevitable that they would remake this gen and I actually thought they would do it digitally, even DLC for X/Y seemed like a possibility. Rather than put their efforts towards anything new, they decide to rehash one of my personal least favorite entries in the series during a time when Pokemon fandom could be argued to be waning especially among both my peers and myself. Each iteration is gradually selling less and less, but thanks to the internet the hype only seems to be growing (source* wikipedia, what do you think? Those numbers are solid and in no way potentially incorrect.) So where does my disappointment come from? For the past few months and the months following, Game Freak were/will likely continue working nearly exclusively on this title meaning that anything new, for instance that Pokemon fighting game that was teased a while ago or perhaps even Pokemon Z (If they're just going to remake a game, I'd rather them work on their inevitable third entry to the X/Y series), will not get any attention until winter and beyond. Pokemon Rumble, Ranger, and Mystery Dungeon do not count as those are ABSOLUTELY okay to be disappointed with at their announcement.
If when E3 rolls around and Nintendo announces otherwise in their direct completely breaking the mold they themselves crafted over the last near 2 decades (Which is why this announcement isn't all that surprising in the first place), I will eat my words. Feel free to quote me, put it up in a signature, and label it look at oooog being an *** again. But as it stands, though I am favoring indifference, I do feel disappointment is a reasonable feeling to have towards this announcement.

If they're going to remake anything, they should remake Super Metroid.
Also, they should allow 3DS users to purchase SNES and GBA titles for the virtual console.

I'd need a fresh pair of pants if they announced a Super Metroid remake.

I'm in the 'more Metroid, less Pokemon' camp.
I've been having these disturbing dreams lately, a reoccurring nightmare if you will. Against all better judgement, I decided to purchase a Wii U for seemingly no reason. Honestly I rationalize it when waking up with the acknowledgement that most PS4 and Xbox games see a PC port, if not a vast majority of the games are generic enough to find a PC counterpart anyways. However, growing up with every Nintendo product up to this generation, I miss the simple pleasures of Mario and Zelda, and unless Nintendo becomes a third party developer, and starts developing for the only current videogame machine in my possession (My PC), I am missing out. I'll wait till Smash Bros is out, and probably pick up a Wii U, with very low expectations, as I was very disappointed with how the Wii-remote was utilized.

I personally think that at this point, Nintendo should just keep it to handhelds.
Either that or stop releasing consoles with stupid pointless gimmicks. Just a regular console, with a regular controller. No screen, no nun-chuck, no annoyingly enforced crap, just a plain old controller. Then, maybe I will consider thinking about potentially reflecting on possibly getting my hands on it. Just maybe...
But nun-chucks? Massive SEGA Game Gear controller? Nope!

You do have the pro controllers for the wii u, they are like the best thing since the Gamecube controls. Fits in the hand perfectly. It's just the placement of the joysticks that buggs me, 'cuz I'm so used to the damned PS controls.
Pretty much every game can use that one, and i prefer to use it. And most games can be played without a Tv thanks to it. Really useful when you're breezing through some ninja gaiden and the girlfriend wants the tv for something. Although I prefer the "big sega game gear" controller for monster hunter, just something really useful with having the item selection screen and item combination short cuts without a finger's reach.

Eh, I don't know. I guess it can be a cool feature for some game and some people, but personally, I prefer having a regular controller as a main one, not as an alternative one. Even PS4's went borderline with their touch pad, but fortunately, it's nothing bad so far.

I just want a Wii U that has more power under the hood. Better integration of standard features would be nice, but then again, I just want to see a Nintendo console that isn't miles behind the next guy's console.

Pokemon Gen 3 remake might be nice, but I never played it so I have no nostalgia to try to recapture. I barely touched Black and skipped Black/White 2 and X/Y so I think I might be over the thing.
Also, I'm bringing marshmallows and firewood to the Moar Metroid camp. Not that Nintendo gives a crap about that series.

Unless you count presenting Samus in her super tight zero suit.

I've said this a million times, and I'll say it again. Graphics really aren't that important to Nintendo, because they really don't need to be. How much more realistic do you need to make Mario? His mustache being one solid color, and an amorphous blob of hair is perfectly fine with me, no fancy pixel-shaded individual strands of facial pubes are necessary to let me know that Mario is Mario.
The gimmicks? Go big or go home. I loved the idea of the Wii-remote, I think everyone did. I just didn't like what they ultimately accomplished with it. Not much. Wii Sports was really they only thing that truly utilized it in a non-awkward, tacked-on way. It didn't do anything for me, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't have the potential to. Give me Mario that truly utilizes the Wii U pad, and that'll justify having the thing. I feel like like similar to the Wii-remote and Super Mario Galaxy, that even Nintendo didn't want to mess with it. They really didn't even try with it most of the time, and they need to be the ones pushing it the hardest I believe, to set an example to other developers that their 'gimmicks' truly work, and warrant being used.
This is just me ranting though. I really like Nintendo games, I always have. Nintendo is just half-assing it though, and it shows in their sales numbers.

Improved hardware for advanced graphics isn't a desire that's meant for Nintendo's games, it's meant for every game that isn't by Nintendo. They seem to be the only ones who know how to make a good looking game without breaking the bank resource-wise, so they should make it so they can get third-party releases that aren't shovelware. As for gimmicks, the Wii U controller is the perfect compromise - It's a standard controller with all the usual suspects present, but it also bears gyro-meters, a touch screen, and can be swapped out for the Pro controller for less gimmicks, or for the Wiimotes for more gimmicks. It's ideal, and it's a very sexy standard, to boot. And, shifting back to improved hardware strength, we would be able to hand four players a nifty Wii U controller without having to deal with the limitations and frame dropping that the current machine has holding it back.

I personally am enjoying my Wii U, though I'd be lying if I said it isn't collecting dust right now. My library for the system already exceeds the Vita, though that isn't saying much as pretty much the only worthwhile exclusive on that thing is Persona 4 Golden. To be honest I haven't cracked open Ys yet, but I doubt that would change my mind. I do believe the Wii U catches a lot of undeserved flak, but then again I suppose the demographic they cater to, which I belong to, is fading (People who don't care about how advanced the games are because they have a PC for that; also enjoy playing with multiple people in the same room). You buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. You see Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong littered throughout each generation with a handful of other titles. But you know what? When those games stop being fun I'll hop off the bandwagon. I never got to enjoy Wind Waker so the HD release was amazing. Mario 3D world was a great hit at the parties I hosted, as was Mario Bros. U. I absolutely loved playing the new Donkey Kong, Pikmin, and The Wonderful 101. And frankly Batman was more enjoyable on the Wii U than it was on the PC.
Expecting 3rd party developers to flock to a Nintendo system is unreasonable with the way that the market is going simply because most of the big 3rd party developers would rather churn out Assassin Creeds, Call of Dutys, Watch Dogs, etc. for multiple systems rather than do exclusives. Not saying any of those games are particularly bad, but typically these games are also available on PC which is my system of choice for multi-platform releases. If Nintendo builds a powerhouse of a system then cool beans, we can see Mario with mustache physics (Mario Kart 8 anyone?) but will likely not see anything really different aside from Nintendo exclusives and the fore-mentioned multi-platform 3rd party games.
Let Playstation and Microsoft fight each other over who has the more powerful system while releasing many of the same blockbuster titles that once again are also released on the PC. Nintendo has never been about being powerful and instead focuses on being fun. Albeit they are in a funk right now, just wait how many systems get sold in the winter when the new Smash comes out or when a new Zelda is announced. Let's not forget Mario Kart 8 right around the corner.
I will not deny being a Nintendo fanboy who is cutting them quite a bit of slack, but I would wager much of the animosity is being directed from people who never even held the gamepad in their hands to play Nintendo Land (which was a pretty interesting game and still a party favorite). Maybe I don't regret my decision of buying a Wii U as much as I could because I also stupidly got an Ouya around the same time. But even without that catastrophe of a box pending being sold for $40 to my neighbor I still don't think the Wii U is in itself a bad system.
