ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE TEAM

Im kadiety.
Ive been in and out of this community for a long time.
Ive done a good bit of work on RPGMAKER 2K and a little on xp...
but thats not the system this game will use.
I am in the process of making a 2d Not-so-distant-future Zombie apocalypse themed MMORPG. the game, depending on the server, will likely hold up to about 50-100 players.
I am currently in preproduction. I intend to have EVERYTHING i plan to map written out, all of the features outlined and planned before i code the first thing. I will ahve all of the resources and graphics before i start to map. Basically i want all the pieces before i start making the puzzle. After i ahve the core of the game functional, i will go online... and begin beta. after that i will add further features, likely more complex ones, based on community demand.
The game will focus on a medium sized town as the setting, though the idea is that it has been a little over a year since society as we know it fell. The game is far enough in the future that some minor advances in technology are present, but close enough to modern times that fossil fuels are still the primary source of energy. Some minor scifi elements will be present, and the fantasy elements are minimalized. Resources are sparse, so its not goign to be a "kill em all" game. Reserving resources like ammunition is very important.
I know that right now im positive the game will feature...
-at least 4 classes. (damage output specialist, defensive specialist, mobility specialist, ect.)
-a 2d rtp style combat system, most similar to the snes zelda or gauntlet games, and an interesting spell system.
-a partner system, similar to a party system of two.
-a guild system.
-player housing (called safehouses)
-dynamic weather & day and night systems.
Feautures that im sure im sure i will add, but dont intend to rush into the Beta of the game....
-advanced classes.
-a pet system.
-item creation/repair
-resource looting.
-vehicles/mounts.
-gamewide events and player rewards, such as restoring water or power to the town by clearing out and reparing the plant.
the game has ALOT of more unique elements that i will not discuss here, because they are unique and i dont want to let my ideas get away.
Right now im looking around online for a real life city to base this off of. I know i want a small city, but it must have a mall and hospital, so it cant be too small. I know that the areas around the city will be wooded.
Im primarily looking for anyone whos interested in helping with the brainstorming and resource gathering elements of the game.
I would also like quest outlines and ideas for different parts of the game.
In the initial beta i only aim to have the first 20 levels of gameplay prepared. as i work more i hope to add more dungeons with higher challenge levels... and raise the level cap.
Anyway, heres a preview of my soildier zombies.
Please, let me know if you want to help...
and let me know what you can and are willing to do to help the game along
thanks!

Ha. I happen to be the most experienced zombie killer in the world.
My city would be overrun with them if it weren't for me.
This will be interesting.

Dude, Abbotsford is so NOT a Zombie hotspot. My Pops lived there, and hes 'O-'. Zombies flock to that. Even with adept vanquishers around.
Id like to hear more of these Zombies. The ones in the Game.
More Zombies. If it were for XP id offer some sprite assistance. I may offer it anyways. But if I do, its probably an empty gesture. Unless the Zombies are kicass

what i NEED is...
someone to help me sprite/modify a lot of arms forward greyskinned injured zombie types.
(ESSENTIALS)
I need a gauranteed2b-confidential Brainstorming team to help me flesh out alot of the core ideas of the game. these people need to be able to chat in realtime withme on msn.
as for zombies....i need like...as diverse an amount as possible. And i realy need zombie animal sprites. As far as RPG MAKERXP or RPGMK2K, i just want the sprites to all LOOK like they go together. Im gonna try and keep as much of the game in RTP style as possible, while still looking modern.
i need modern/dark chipsets.Ive got a few,but Anyone who can make the world look like its gone to hell, can help alot. I need to make a town look like its being Fortified against Zombies. I need busted cars.. boarded windows...ect.
I could really use long quest paths with story arc ideas.
All of the items in the game have Ammo/uses/durability, so loot is very important.
(NONESSENTIALS)
Im eventually gonna be looking for someone who can make a Flash Intro for the game...and thats pretty important...even if not essential.
Im really also looking for someone familiar with Elysium Diamond, which is the program im using to edit/create this game. Someone familiar with VisualBasic could probably do the same things im needing.
============
about the setting.
its the notsodistant future (year 2032). The internet has been replaced by a lightspeed information grid that links all electronic multimedia devices together. Fossil fuel dependency has been waining in the alst few years, as nearly all vehicles are hybrid. Nuclear technology has been all but abandoned, as it was recently Proven that all Forms of cancer are the result of radiation exposure in one form or another. The most important advancement is those made in the cyberbiological Enhancement of humankind. Sickness has been all but eliminated by the miracle cure mankind has been waiting on through the new sciences of nanotechnology. Tiny Machine cells withing the bodies of millions heal the sick, enhance the intellegence of some, and the phisique of others. The face of the world has changed, as a single currency and a universal Goverment has been established to Quell the chaos after The Nuclear crisis of 2012. The world is literally, at peace.
that all changed.
Some time, a little over a year ago, riots broke out, all at once. The Rioters were madmen, and apparently victims of some illness... some blood sickness of unknown origion... one that the nanomachines apparently couldnt quell...These crazed masses were filled with rage, and literally tore anyone not part of ther horde limb from limb. They are called many things, but their disturbing ability to shrug off pain and mortal wounds caused many to Dubb them CorpseCannibals...Zombies, and the Zed. (Zerging Evil Dead)
The unliving legions brought civilization to its knees, tearing away any sense of safety or security anyone had. It began on a Thursday in April, and by Monday, there was nothing resembling order left. The world was parylized.
The North American Power Grid is in disrepair, and very few areas have reliable power. Water is a luxury many areas do not have, and tales from the far west tell of many more deaths by dehydration than by the Zeds.
In the months following the Outbreak, the Zeds have changed. No longer are they the fast moving creatures of Bloody Thursday. they ahve become slower, and more methodical. They seem to be weaker the longer they go without feeding, though after only a few bites of living flesh, they are much stronger, faster, and powerful.
In the following months, the world fell into neglect. the Survivors of BloodyThursday had taken refuge in fortified locations... but slowly, without people to maintain it, the world fell apart.
This game is set in the small rural community of (unnamed), and focuses on the conflict in and around this area. (i havent decided what state this takes place in, only that its in the area once known as the united states, and likely on the East coast or south, in a deciduous hilly area.)
players will play survivors, who for whatever reason, have ended up newcomer refugees to the town the game is focused upon.
anyway... thats what ill share for now.
if anyone is Positive they are interested in helping let me know.

im starting to think rtp style doesnt look really...serious enough for a zombie game. I dont relaly know what to do. i may try some other styles...like tall style or something.... but this will mean ALL of the art will have to be done CUSTOM for the game.
and ive been thinking more about why a mildy futuristic zombie game is what i want to do. Honestly im not sure about the time period...
ill think more.

If youre looking to get custom made chipsets, have fun with that.
It takes a long time and alot of effort. I am capable of this, but not to be a jerk, I have enough trouble doing this for myself, for my project. For me to Offer to design a games worth of dar chipsets, I would need to be put on a salary or hourly wage. Its ALOT of work.
I dont know flash, but Im pretty decent with making flash like animations in BattleAnimation format. But that too, is alot of work.
I think you may be getting ahead of yourself.

Theres always editing though dude.
If you took, say a chipset of church ruins....Open it up in iDraw, and select your pen option.....
Set the transperancy to like 25%, and make the pen size as large as you can...
Click and hold you mouse, and colour the whole map slightly darker, With one click/stroke.....the background colour will be darkened as well though, but if its all done in one swipe, you can just flood-fill the background back to the origional colour.
If you have troubles with this, post or pm me (Or hit me on msn, addy is in my profile) some chipsets you like, but that are not dark enough, and Ill see if I can darken a couple for you.
You can do this with any graphical resource....
Add me, And I can at least talk you through the process.

That sounds really useful plight. i may just do that.
I still ahve to figure out what sort of resources im going to use.
Since i obviously expect to create ALL custom resources for my game (since im only a slightly fair editor) i need to find resources that i can use.
Ive looked at alot of games and their graphics, and im thinking alot about just using spriterips from a game thats already been released.
Im considering using the MetalSlug series graphics for the game, since they look really good, and MetalSlug3 has a TON of zombies.
The only thing is that MetalSlug is a sidescroller... and the game im making lets you move North&South as well as East&West. You can attack in all of these directions too.... and their wont be walking graphics or firing graphics for this... and the game would look really akward... even if it does have higher detail.
Im having a pretty hard time finding a game that has the Overhead Zelda/Gauntlet style system AND looks anything like modern.
Im going to look some more.

hmm..... meybe try sigma star? Im not sure where to find them...its cartoony, but some of the graphics are pretty cool. There are space sidescroller and RPG overhead tiles used in that one.
Not what youd need for sprites, but the chips may be usefull.
