ORIGINAL Sprite resources - which are they?

More of a request to point some out as opposed to create some, though if anyone creates tiles and sprites get in touch with me via PM.
*ahem*
My cohort in game development found a neat little program called Eclipse today, a free, fully functional MMO engine. Interface is a little weird and not at all what I would call friendly, but it works.
He would like to try running a game using this system, and I'm all for it, except for the artwork included...it appears to be a number of direct rips from an edition of RPGMaker.
So, if we're going ahead with this, I want to avoid stepping on toes. If anyone here can point out which tiles or sprites on Charas are original sets, not rips, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks a lot!

I don't really think it matters too much. As I understand it, homebrew games are a type of fanfic, so you're allowed to use the character sprites as you like - you're just not allowed to make an exact copy of the game. So, go ahead and use whatever you like, just make sure to credit some big companies (Nintendo, Square Enix, Konami, Sega, etc.) in your credits section, and if you get contacted by a representative of a company who wants you to use a different sprite and/or credit them, do it. But that's just my suggestion - identification of all original material in the generators and Complete Resources is a long job and it's likely that no one's going to do it, so I'm just trying to offer an alternative.

Um, yup. Already dealt with Nintendo once, years ago, with a Pokemon MMO engine, don't care to do that again.
Besides, this really isn't a "homebrew" per se- this will have its own, alibet limited, commercial applications. IE Check the sig, I do run a small but legit gaming company, I'd like to keep it all that way.
Should this first trial work out, we'll be proceeding with production on our title Genetisys, of which the Pen & Paper RPG and Card Game should be out this fall. If its well liked, we won't want to close it down and we won't want to be using other's tiles or sprites.

Well, how about we start here, seeing as how most here are better versed in sprites- does anyone know if this sprite/style is from any title in particular?

Kinda thought so.
Most of the sets have a RPGM look & feel about them.
And, scoping out RPGMXP, it seems the games are distributable as shareware...which would seem to apply to the materials...need to know more

Pokemon MMO, eh? I think I remember hearing something about that.
In any case, I didn't realize that you were trying to make something like that - I figured it was just some small personal engine. But if you're trying to make a large MMO-type thing, then it may be a better use of your time to go around the RPGM community and ask spriters to make/donate custom works to your project.

Oh yea, that will definetly be the case assuming the engine does what we need it to and we launch the game we want to launch. Actually, we'll be comissioning sprites, as we'll want work of quality, made to specs, and sprites/tiles/artwork we have legal control of. I don't mind using stock art here and there in our products, but I prefer to have control of principal pieces.
This test server, though, is just that. A reletively generic fantasy game to give us the chance to stress test the capabilities of what we're dealing with and get a handle on the scripting system. The RPGMXP sprites and tiles, assuming they're free to use as shareware, will suffice.
As for the PMMO, had just gotten it to a point we were going to open it to the public, just gotten the battle system ready, and Nintendo issued a cease and desist, had to comply. Community was SO PO'd, took it out on us actually...one person was inventive enough to fake an e-mail from Nintendo, did a good job of it, cept I wrote back to NOA and requested a snail mail copy of their final decision...which was a copy of the C&D. Not too bad in the end, but I know the folks down at Nintendo know me ^_^

Easier said than done.
Started writing one years ago (still work on the code on occasion- see my post on the Games forum for some shots of me fooling around with it).
Managing three primary lines (Final Twilight, Imp Game, The Supers), launching at least one more if not two, and doing all of the promotion and convention work (GenCon Indy coming up especially), doesn't really leave much time for writing and maintaining the code base for an MMO engine from scratch. And I can't ask someone to do that considering the work load I know lies behind it.
If I ever get back to it, I have a really nice start, just a lot of debugging and testing I can't do. Scripting language is nice and functional, variant on C++ with some commands for loading common items, images, and music files, newer PCs manage about 120+ cycles per second so I have some room to play with (started coding it on a pre-Pentium 3 Athalon processor, Win 98 OS box, dinosaur)
