I've been kind of nervous to post this, but I think I will. Long ago, Harvey posted here a game named "Control of Destiny 2." At the time people had probably been wondering what happened to the first game. Well, here it is. The game isn't completed, but it's at a stage where I can give you guys a short demo.

Control of Destiny is a time travelling game in which a bunch of heros from various micronations, past, present, and future, come to defeat a great evil that is threatning the fate of the world of Micras.

I'll admit right here that Control of Destiny does not have an original plot. In fact, the plot was deliberately stolen from Chrono Trigger. It was originally intended as a parody of Chrono Trigger, using the setting of my previous hobby, micronations. Micronations could be basically described as pretend nations on the internet, with full communities voting on things and ruling countries, and all the drama that entails. What micronations really is isn't important here; however, the important result is that a lot of the people in Control of Destiny arn't fictional, but are instead based on real people. You could say that in this case it is akin to a community game, with cameos by forum members and the like. You can see remnents of this in some of the games, although not all of them. For example, one of the main characters is named Bill (Well, me :p) but it used to be my full handle, Bill3000. As a result, the names of the main characters are unoriginal, for a reason - they are real people.

Of course, part of the problem is that the nations in this game have long since died, and plenty of micronationalists have quit. That's why the game has, since then, gone on a mind of its own, creating its own culture and world in the meantime. The Chrono Trigger plot of saving-the-world-from-a-future-evil is only a background - the game has a rich history and mythology, plenty of cameos from real people, and an overaching plot that is as original as it is a devotion to its sources.

Before I show you the pictures of the game and the download link, let me tell you that I need criticism. As you know, I havn't actually been public in the RM2k community before. As well, since the game comes from a community that none of you are familiar with, I would like to know if you get lost while playing; I've tried to explain it as simply another world, but the detail to the modern world is more in depth than, say, Chrono Trigger, given all the various details of micronations that exist. As well, I've recently changed the plot a bit. Before, Bill (me) was the President of the United Demesos in the past. He isn't anymore - his grandfather was. Ignoring the justification for why, I'd like to know if you still feel that it seems like I am the President rather than my grandfather when you play the game.

A picture of the the nothern Kajar Fairgrounds in the Flying Islands of Jasonia. The FIoJ was a micronation, and yes, it was partially a ripoff of the Kingdom of Zeal originally, but it's much more than that.

Battle System.  Default battle system, true, but it works. Jason, Bill, and Matt facing the garrison of the United Demesos military.

Features:
- 9 playable characters, with a couple temporary characters
- Nations featured from the Apollo Sector in micronationalism
- Custom Menu System
- Currency Exchange - with so many micronations, you're bound to make money by investing and exchanging currencies!
- Bank Accounts - Admit it, you've always wanted to exploit banks by time travelling
- AP System - In Chrono Trigger fashion, spells and techs are learned through an accumulation of AP, rather than levelling up
- 6 eras of time in an area of the world of Micras

Hah, you did it Billy boy.

Critisisms?  Well, first of all I want to complement you on the CMS.  It's nice and clean with nothing you don't need.  Very nice.  However, for the first map, on the flying islands, you might want to check the complete resources for a better cloud panorama.  The RTP just doesn't quite cut it.  I like the story, however, even if it is a Chrono rip. :p

Yours truely does the scripting, Billion here does the programming, I tell him what's whack and occasionally he changes is.

Not the most flattering screenshots or the best description I would have chosen, but it's a fun little game right now. I really like the story, which has nothing to do with writing a lot of it right now, I assure you. Has a few really shiny coding elements too that for some reason he didn't bring up. Well, whatever.

If you're one of those "OMG I need awesome maps, awesome original character designs and the sort" then you probably won't enjoy this game. Being a decent mapper myself, I can honestly say that the maps aren't stunning, but they're also not bad on the eyes, either. In regards to the story, I liked it. Aside from its CT points, its pretty original. Before I played the game, I was expecting a semi CT fan game, that well, probably wasn't that good. But on the contrary, I had fun with the game. It's a good play, and while it's not awesomely astounding in certain aspects, like other games are *coughvelsarborcough* it's still fun to play. At least I thought it was. :p And, in regards to you changing it so Bill wasn't the president. THANK YOU. Those references confused the heck out of me. <_<

You have a bank system, in a time traveling game? So, if I went to the future and withdrew all the money, then I went to the past and withdrew all the money since it would still be in the bank, how would that work. The money I would withdraw in the future wouldn't be there to withdraw, but I would already have withdrawn it...

He already told me about that. I believe he said you're supposed to be able to do that, as, if you have enough sense to do it, it's your "reward".

Hooray for time travelling paradoxes! Don't worry - it's addressed in the game. The characters know this and as a result will restrict their activity towards the bank system. The characters will start a new account for each transaction, instead of changing their money in their previous account.
