Game releases, etc...

Here you can submit stuff about new game releases, news about new games that are being developed, etc
I'll go first!!!
Sonic Heroes is coming!!! And in New York you can allready rent it!!! But... I heard the game sucks!!!
I have a friend of mine who allready played the rental, here are his first impressions:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goodcow:
I managed to rent Sonic Heroes, and so far I'm up to Stage 5 with Team Sonic, and uh... what the fu** is this s*it?
Alright, so the game boots, and you're treated to a horrible song, SONIC HEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRROOOOOOOOEEEEEEEESSSSSSS, and the menu that looks like it was made with Klik and Play. (or Renderware, *zing*) First thing I try to do is set the language to Japanese, but I find out there's no Japanese audio option. Japanese text, but no Japanese audio! *thumbs up*
Foregoing the tutorial, I jump right in, and I'm greeted with a nicely compressed FMV, with some of the worst voice acting ever. The first level starts, and I play, and half the time I'm thinking to myself, "What the fu** is going on here?" The game just feels totally off to me. And nowhere near as good as Sonic Adventure 1 or 2, which to me, are how Sonic in 3D should be.
The first boss consisted of Eggman in some flying machine or something, where he apparently had 99 hit points. Of course me defeating him consisted of just doing 99 homing attacks as Sonic. I also love the way these lavish looking statues break into five crappy blocky chunks when Robotnik flies into them. In between me running a neverending path to hit Robotnik, I also had to dispatch of enemies, none of which even have good design.
Color me impressed!
Oh, I managed to also get into a special stage, which just consists of you running after, and collecting these horrible looking balls that extend your time until you get to the end. All of a sudden during the level a plane with a Chao flew in, and started dropping both orbs and bombs at me, leaving me to again say, "What the fu** is this?"
Oh, the graphics. My god, this game is amazing. Amazingly bad. The rings don't even have a nice chrome effect like the Dreamcast did, back in, you know, 1998.
Stages 3 and 4, the energy plant, with a nice play by play commentary from the characters.
"This must be the energy plant!"
"That's energy flowing thru those tubes!"
read: I don't care, shut the fu** up and become a good game
Level design so far seems weak, though to be fair, littered with different paths. I'm just not digging this whole teamplay thing though at all.
I also had to fight another boss after Stage 4, this time, Team Rose. Yeah, that's right, Naka was so high he made me fight Team Rose because there was an FMV of Amy saying she wanted to marry me, and she wasn't going to let me go this time. The battle consisted of me again not really knowing what the fu** was going on, as each time I damaged them, it was only indicated by them blinking on and off screen.
I'm up to the pinball level now, and it's on pause at the tv next to me.
The music has also been entirely forgettable so far, whereas I can hum numerous Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 themes to myself.
This game is a real winner.
(note, opinions may change with extended play time, but probably not)

Alien Hominid, a game by the Newgrounds.com webmasters, is in it's final developing stage. It will probably come out on all consoles.

There are four teams. Hero Team is predictable enough -- Sonic, Tails, Knuckles. Dark Team is like a Sonic Adventure reunion, featuring Shadow, Rouge and Omega (a robot similar to E-102 Gamma). The ultra-cutesy Rose Team has Amy Rose, fan-favorite Cream and fan-hated Big the Cat. Last but not least (that'd be Rose Team) is the Chaotix Team of Vector the crocodile, Espio the chameoleon and Charmy Bee. I never thought we'd see these guys again -- their sole claim to fame is appearing in the ill-fated Knuckles Chaotix on Sega's 32X. It's cool to see them in a better game. Each team has an entire game to go through, with similar but ultimately different stages. Team Rose's levels are more geared to beginners, for example, while the Chaotix levels can require a bit more puzzle-solving. So, you might be wondering why they're in teams to begin with ...
Teamplayer!
No matter which team you choose, each character falls into one of three categories: Speed, Power or Fly. Speed characters like Sonic and Shadow excel at high-speed racing, and can go offensive with the traditional mid-leap homing attack. Power characters like Big the Cat and Knuckles can attack with combos on the ground, and are great for destroying walls and blocks that might bar your path. Lastly, flying characters like Cream and Charmy can give everyone else a lift, as well as bring flying enemies down to the ground for the Power characters to deal with. This system makes everyone feel useful -- even Big.
While you have three characters on your team, you can only control one at a time, while surprisingly capable AI takes over for the other two. You can switch at any time, and the levels are designed so that you'll have to. There might be a speed section for Sonic, then a series of walls to break with Knuckles, and a bunch of pits to traverse and enemies to take down with Tails. In practice, it's not as cut-and-dried or contrived as I just made it sound. There are often multiple ways to tackle a situation, and the solution is solely up to your skill and discretion.
