Sir Bob Geldof is the leader singer of a group called The Boomtown Rats late 70s-early 80s. Geldof, after seeing footage of Africa's poverty, formed a song called 'Do They know its Christmas?' with various large British bands. The song sold heaps and the money went to Africa, not the singers. America did a similar thing with money going to Africa. Still though, Geldof wanted more. On July 13th 1985 the biggest muscial performance the world had seen occurred: Live Aid. Geldof organised two concerts in London and Philidephia with the biggest groups around the world. (in other countries other artists organised other concerts not as large as London or Philidelphia). No money went to the bands. 80 million dollars went to Africa for medicine, supplies etc. Afterwards he was knighted, and he fought governments to help Africa. 20 years l8, Geldof and Bono (U2) organised 10 concerts: London, Philidephia, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Barrie, Johannesburg and the Eden Project. These concerts, Live 8, were to tell the G8, the 8 men who control the trade of the world, to cancel Africa's debt and let Trade in Africa be the same as us.
