It has happened before? I'd like to know when. The forum handles the actions of people on an individual basis - it's not some epicenter where impulses run through a central server. When you are making a post, or registering, or logging on, you send information to the server through a unique connection between you and server. There is almost no way for the server to "mix up" your info. This is not a guess, this is how the internet works.

Certainly, Andrew could share an ISP with you. He could use the same proxy as you do, if you use one. You could both have registered and access Charas from the same school. Any one of those would result in a mixup of IPs. In fact, if you aren't him, than it is most likely either the first or second one.

What I am trying to say is that you blaming an old modem or blaming a server mixup for a switch of your IPs is wrong - it CAN'T happen.
