Javascript Help

I was wondering if anyone could quickly help me out with something - my Javascript is really rusty, so any help is appreciated.
I need to know if there's a function in Javascript that dumps the source of an HTML file on the internet into a variable, or something similar that I can search through and grab stuff from.

Yes. Yes there is. But I'm going to be entirely useless and not tell you what it is.
