Help me be creative in a consistent way!

Okay, so I've been working on rpgmaker for a couple of years now and I've never managed to spit out a finishedgame. My problem seems to be that I can't tell what to work on in a consistent manner so that I progress into my game. So now I'd like to make a request for a step by step guide to making your game. I've got all the good ideas, I know what I wanna make, I know how to - But I need to know in what order to do it.
Thanks ahead
Darwin
PS. Please don't flame me, my mummy told me not to play with fire before I go to bed. ^^

I feel like this is being directed at me for some reason. <_<
I can't really tell you how to make a game, but I can give you some good advice. If your making a game with a story, it's best to completely write down your storyline. Here's how I made mine.
Start with a consistency chart like in my tutorial. Decide how magic works in the world of your game, the cultures of the people in your game, and how death/life/religion works.
Next, make a timeline or an event list. The Final Fantasy compendium has great examples.

Next, make your characters. Try to only insert characters that fit in your game. Write down backstories and quotes for your characters. It's a good idea to look at some personality tests for ideas. Here's a good one.

Next, make a little "Frequently Asked Questions" sheet. This will be for plotholes and unexplained events. Some are appropriate, causing the player to think more about the game. Some aren't.
Here is a nice one for Final Fantasy 7.

After all the writing is done, you should be able to follow it like a script. Start making your game with the first part of the story, then the next...eventually you'll be done.
(For those of you reading this, Chapter 2 is almost done. I'm just being lazy.)

To be honest this was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much aboutasoandthis ^^
Could you eventually link me to your tutorial? I seem to have some trouble digging it up. And the link to the FF compendium is broken but I managed to find the real page anyway
