I'm looking once again for suggestions from the public! This time on spells. Like whats your favorites, amount per game, MP cost, dependability, and what ever else you can think of!

Isn't fun looking such a curious Adept?

Something that kills multiple enemies in one blow. :p

Something that requires a really cool animation to play, and does mass damage.

My favorites:

Vampiric Touch
Skull Trap
Raise Dead (undead, not the player)
Fiend, Cacofiend and Gate (Demon summoning spells)

Something that does 1 damage to your enemy but kills you in one hit.

Ice, I love ice spells!

 My favorite is Aurora Boreau (turns everything in an area of 100 meters in a -3000 degrees area. 5% of chances that the caster is included)

 Or anything with side effects.
 The Rotten Almight make you very strong, but takes 3% of your life each turn (I made this now just as an eample)

Here's a tip - if you see something from a commercial game that you want to use in your project, expand or modify it to make it unique.

For example, Celes' Runic ability from FF6. When active, it would absorb all magic attacks and restore her MP a bit. I liked the skill, but I found that it wasn't really useful. So I thought "Hey, why not use it to power up the weapon?" From there, I created a system (in my head) where the character could only absorb up to a certain level of spells, but absorbing a spell would increase the spell level they could absorb. Though not a completely new idea, I thought it was unique enough to distinguish the new ability from the original.

Try things like that. It might help.

FIRE and lots of it...fires are cool! They can burn, scorch, cook and bring doom upon your enimies.

I like spells with added effects. Like a spell that does damage AND lowers defense, or damages enemy MP, or adds a status effect too. Fun stuff like that. It's not all about raw power.

For some reason one of my favourite spells is Wall, from FF7. You can't beat a good wall to protect you from that pesky Sephiroth.

I prefer attacks that reduce the enemy to 1 HP, or anything that does heavy MP damage. Added effects are nice too.

well don't you all have alot of favorites some I might use and some I might not they all sound good except the kill all foes spell thats like X-Zone in FF6 kinda super-cheep...

I like Summoning magic. When Diablo 2 was being in production, I was salivating at the Necromancer so much. Seiken Densetsu 3 has a lame excuse for summoning magic, but I still got tricked into playing that character heh.

In D&D I have to say my favourite spells are the Cleric ones so anything that boosts stats or kills undead easily is also nice.
