I'd have to disagree with that one. I heard some midis of mozart peices that were actually very well made. Also heard a remix of starwars music that was exeptionaly good.

I've got to agree that actual songs can have pretty good midis made of them.
It all matters on who's making the midi and how much attention they pay to the pieces actual notation, form, harmony, key, etc..

Sometimes a midi can be good, it all depends on how well it's made. Like the midi for Yngwie Malmsteen's rendition of Bethoven's 5th Symphony completly ruins the MP3 version, but then some others, like Cacophony's Speed Metal Symphony midi, are so excellently made. I respect anyone who can pull off making something like that.

I actually found a great midi of Dust in the Wind by Kansas. Unfortunately I didn't save. Every other midi I've found of that sounded like a hillbilly symphony.

I see no problem in Mp3's just as long they're used sparingly otherwise they suck...

And as for Midi's they are so-so some are good some are bad depends on who made it and what program they used...

I say midis, reason being is that my windows media player is being attacked by a nasty spyware or something and I can't use it. Now I only listen to the midis in my game file, sure I could import mp3s, but I'm too lazy.

Another thing, for those of us so unfortunate to still have dial up, an mp3 can take over 15 minutes to download, where as a midi would only take under 15 seconds.

As for games, using high quality mp3s for the whole game dosen't really fit a super nintendo style graphics game. I like mp3s for the intro  and maybe one or two major scenes, but I prefer midis for everything else.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

That same remix you can hear in MP3 format. Way better than the midi.

I'd prefer tracker music over MIDI. Works the same, has more possibilities.
