Little extreme don't you think?
Anyway, bows and guitars don't mix.

No, you forgot the key variable in that equation: Jimmy Paige + bow + guitar= Kashmir
Without that key mark, the equation falls apart.

That's.... weird... A bow for a guitar? Never heard of it. I've heard of Electric Violins, that sounds a little like guitar but more screechy. But never a bow for a guitar...

Try it. Go to a violin website and check what you need to start then try it on your guitar.

I think it's used mostly like a violoncello, if you try it on the guitar.

Yes you need a substance called "rosin" I play vio and cello, and you scratch the surface of the rosin and stroke the bow over it, make sure you tighten up the bow, but not too tight!!! Loosen it after every use to prevent permanetly warping the bow.
The Rosin leaves a sticky dust like substance on the bow creating friction, and from this friction, the sound is born. It will be messy, I've never tried it on electric guitar strings. Prepare to replace your strings.
If you want something more high tech, then go for the Ebow, I have one myself, it sounds great. What that does is instead of using the bow, it has a magentic device that vibrates the target string so fast it creates an endless but controlled feedback.
