Originally posted by Warxe_PhoenixBladeIf you really want to get literal, nearly any game can be considered an RPG, as you're taking the role of a character within that game's world. This means that some games could be assigned "platformer RPG" or "FPS RPG", and it could be considered correct.Even in the more real sense of the word, an RPG can still have an action-based battle system, or a strategy-based one, or whatever. The Zelda games, for example, use real-time fighting, but most of them have involving plots and upgradable characters and the like.
Originally posted by carmenwell the term RPG (Role Playing Game) Does not specify a tactical/ strategic battle rule. It merely demonstrates the fact that you play a deeper role in the storyline. It allows you more customize your character around your personality. Once again, it doesn't specify whether or not it's a real time based battle, with some action fast paced elements or aka "action RPG"so...yeah. it exsists.
