I'll post something, which we can debate. When that's done, and/or someone comes up with something else, we'll debate that, and when that topic's played out, we'll debate something else - and so on, and so on. Regular posting rules apply, remember, so don't flame other people's opinions.

Since I started the topic, I get to choose the first topic.

Me and a friend were discussing that point. We didn't reach a conclusion on it, so I'll ask you guys.

Well I think that good is what is generally accepted and evil is what is not. But I lean towards what you do for yourself and others depends on what and how you did.

Yeah I agree, good and evil are basically just opinions held by a person. Most people would agree that terrorists are evil, but on the other hand, terrorists think that the United States is evil. The concept of good and evil is just that, a concept. Each person views the concept of good and evil in a differant way, and the way they view it is based on their ideals.

A lot of ideals are uniformal, such as the ideal that flat out murder is evil. However, a lot of ideals are held by the indevidual, an example would be animal rights. Is it evil to kill and eat an animal? Some vegitarians and such have the ideals that such actions are evil, others like me would find nothing wrong in doing so.

So yeah, you can't really have a clear definition of what is good and what is evil, it just won't work. Rather, indeviduals choose for themselves what they believe to be good and evil based on their own or their cultures ideals.

What about people who know things are evil, but do it anyway? Those guys are assholes. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Ganondorf.

These things probably come from our evolutionary nature as social creatures; from the need to group together to be safe.

But I don't doubt that if a person was taught from birth to believe murder is okay they would believe it. It's basically all opinion, but thanks to society we have common standards.

Well, realistically I suppose it would have been no blacks, jews, nonwhites, all that live have blue eyes and blonde hair.

I for one completly agree with that statement. Of course our morality is based heavily on religion, namingly the Christian religion, so I dont think our uniformal morals are based so much on evolution as they are religion and government. Look at almost everything bad you can think of, murder, drugs, etc. These things are prohibited by the governemt, and therefor they have the "bad" lable associated with them. The undecideds will follow the majority, and eventually those who oppose will convert. Its the few that remain in opposition who are the evil people, because by now, everyone is against them.

I'll comment on the actual issue later, but I just gotta say that that's probably not what would have happened had German won. Most of th country was TOTALLY unaware of the atrocities commited against the jewesh population and the extend that it was being taken and were horrified to find out after the war.

Well the question was what if Hitler ruled the world, not if Germany did.

I'm not in a position to disagree, my knowledge on WW2 isn't all that.
