Wow... Where do you find all your parallax backgrounds at?

     It comes from something I call effective cut and pasting. I figured out how to do a bunch of photoshop like stuff without photoshop. Eventually, I'll do a tutorial.

     To get some awesome backgrounds, google Ultimate Paint. It's a free image converter. Copy and paste the picture you want to UP and save it as a 256 color PNG. Then, use Idraw or Paint or something and change its size to 320 * 240. Import and you're done.

Ultimate Paint can store up to 32-bit PNGs so it's great for screenshots.

This post will be a LONG READ so scroll down for screens. Even though you might have seen me posting around more, I've been working hard on the CMS of this game its been taking ages.



What you see here is a mock Equip Menu. It's not completely programed yet (Maybe 10%?). See, first I'm making those little sprite pictures with the texts you see to the upper right. I'm making A LOT of those. I already have over 150 done. First I have to find the sprite (rip/google/steal) then I have to put in the text by hand because Idraw can't really recognize the font I'm using without spacing it out too much. I have to do it myself one at a time. As for Programming: I've figured out how get the menu to recognize your equipment and how to change/throw away your equipment using show choice. It looks ugly to me though. So I want to eventually make a sub menu using pictures.

This is a little off topic but I have the Zodiac Stones from FFTactics in my game plus the Four Elemental Crystals. I know what you're thinking and no, YOU DO NOT COLLECT CRYSTALS AS ANY PART OF THE STORYLINE. I have something more...sinister in store. But I wanna see if my crystals match up. I've looked on the internet but almost everysite I went to contradicted the other sites as to what Zodiac Sign goes with what Crystal. I decided to just pick ones for the color of the Tactics Crystals. Can You judge?

Believe it or not. I've been working on finishing the charasets for the main characters too. They're STILL not done cause I want to put in a lot of detail into them like my other charasets. Also, I've decided to make all of my espers and avatars charasets to. They'll still have the flashy animations but with a small RTP sprite so I can animate them. I've also started creating the superstrong, stay-in-your-party-for-certain-amount-of-time-characters. The following characters will be playable in the first demo: Alexis, Colt, Gale, Reis, Dexter(as a kid), Darrius(Dragoon that is more powerful than Reis and fights differently), Cid(Insanely strong axewielder with amazing abilities), Ilfrit (sorta), and Shiva(Sorta too).

I'm slightly changing the gameplay. Instead of removing the party, the avatar will just be a class/character change. The espers will still be equipment. That means no espers in the party sorry. I'm thinking about making the espers equipment like the junction system of FF8. I want a bunch of different gameplay options in my game to increase replay value (You can focus on: Link Attacking, Building Personal Skills, Learning Magic, Increasing Stats With Level Ups, Powering Up Limit Combos, Using the Avatar System, or go the insane way and do everything.

To end this ridiculously long post, I've been working on my map style a lot. I've decided to use only Theodore, Edited Suikoden, Bahamut Lagoon, and FF5-6 map Graphics. Except for a few special cases of Rudora and SD3, I don't think I'll use anything else. I don't want to use more than 4 certain maps of Mac & Blue.

All maps that are not: interior maps, world maps, or certain special maps will be 40*30 spaces in my game for special effect reasons. I came up with a reflection of the sky idea and I want it to be my signature graphic style. Thanks to the Screenshot board, I came up with this map that is exactly what I'm talking about. If you look closely, you can see the sky and I want this effect in every single map in my game. Since I'm using a day/night/weather sytem, I don't think I'll use shadows at all.

Dude, for the stones, all you gotta look up is birthstone dates, then look up Zodiac dates in horoscopes and crap. Compare and walla, you're done.

No screens or nothin so if you ain't gonna read, skip this.

Everything was deleted. A computer virus just broke in a day or 2 ago. The entire thing was deleted. The CMS included. I even finished all the graphics for the equip menu (Over 300 sprite graphics).

So after an hour of feeling like ****, I decided to look and see what I had left over. I was surprised at how much I had. I had a bunch of links bookmarked (including where to find Rpg Maker 2k3+RTP), I wrote down almost everything in my database on paper beforehand, I posted a bunch of stuff I needed on this site, I had a CD backup with some of the music and chipsets, I put in a bunch of stuff I needed int the request and resources section, and I still had my photobucket account.

So that's all. This was the 4th time it's gotten deleted so this is almost nothing to me.

I decided to take my free time to write out the first demo. I'm surprised at how easy it would be to make.

I'm taking this week to get my resources back. I had almost the entire soundtrack picked out, I can get my chipsets back, I just need ultimate paint and idraw to get my charasets and battle animations back.

I'm gonna focus on filling up the database back up. Then, I've decided to make the BATTLE SYSTEM first. I might make the first page of the CMS again, but I'll wait on the equip menu. I wanna get every part of the database filled out and coded.

This thing has been hard to write, but take this statement to heart when I say "**** happens."

This isn't the first time my game was deleted so I am really determined to make this game. If you're a MOD reading this please DO NOT DELETE MY TOPICS. I still need the pictures and stuff. When the time comes, I'll delete them myself.

Time for a fresh start.

Bah, if anyone wants to know why I quit making PACT, that's why. I had a CD back up, but it was about a month after my comp went wacko, so I had a lot of coding missing. However, to you this doesn't sound like that great of a loss. Did you lose your maps too?

Yep they got deleted. But It's nothing I can't get back. I only made 2 real maps for my game LOL. Since I had a happy rush and posted that big map in the Screenshot Section, I can easily get that back. I have the chipset, idraw, and I know where to get my image converter. I just need to finish downloading (I'm STILL DOWNLOADING! RPG Maker+RTP AS 25 MB ON DIAL UP IS MURDER!).
As for not affecting me, this is the 4th time. This is nothing to me. I've had worse happen to me than computer deletion. What's dumb is that I had a CD waiting but I wanted to finish my demo.

I suggest backing it up. I would reccomend a flash drive.They're rewritable and you can get a 512 MB for $50. I have all my game stuff and RM2K3 on mine all the time.

Man I am Feeling that custom menue you speaks to me. I read most of your post, nice game. I tend to r00t for fan games. I enjoy playing good ones. Can't believe the other day I played a good dbz fan game but, anyways. Good luck man, I'll keep a look out for ya game.   :vict:
