FFVII-2D help!

Hey, how many of you out there really want to do a remake of FFVII using RM2K3? Seeing as how my temporary job on the team is to look for folks to help us, I was thinking thisi s the place to ask - considering all of the talent that's sitting around here. Of course, I am not aware if I've posted in the wrong area here, but the place said "Games", so...

Anyways, we need whoever wants to help. The site is http://ff72d.co.nr/ and anyone that wants to join the team is welcome. We need a BIG team if we don't want to screw this game up, and many of you might want to join JUST SO it doesn't get screwed up, so PLEASE HELP!!!

Why would you want to make a 2d version of FFVII on rm2k3? Anyone could just download FFVII and play it on a playstation emulator in 3d. No matter how hard you try, you won't be able to make the game as good as the original, and certainly not better with rm2k3. I'd suggest spending your time on something a little more worth while. If you really want to work on FFVII, make a sequal or something, but a remake is pointless if the remade version is worse than the original.

Its a task for the 1000th remake of FF7 in RPGM. Your job already is worthless. The only worthwhile FF7 remake I've ever seen is the one that Prof was workin on, and that was because he was making in 3D with RM2K and not just collection random resources to make a shitty game.

I'll have you know I'm already a part of four "original" projects. Why don't YOU go do something besides hovering around boards and finding as many people as you can to flip off.

I have been made the wiser, certainly, by your "worthless" bantering of negativity, and out of the small place in my heart I must say thanks. It's clear that my undertaking is a tad bit ridiculous and that nothing, NOTHING could be better than the original. However, I took part in this project, not because I wanted to see it finished, but because I wanted to help someone out, whether or not it was going to fail. Whatever the HELL you guys think, I do not consider the project worthless because whether or not it is bad, this guy needed my help. That's all that matters. If you want to blow up about that, go right ahead. I DON'T CARE. Just realize how thoughtless you guys are being. It is in NO WAY your right to label ANYTHING as worthless or pointless or whatever. Please, take sympathy. I'm helping him, and I don't care what happens. Sure, it could be a waste of time, but as long as I'm helping him, HE doesn't think so. I'll work with that. Can you?

Why make a 2D remake when the 3D is out?
No offense. It is an original idea, but not an original game.
You could try making a sequel that takes place after FF7:AC about maybe Cloud dying or something.

It can take place before hand, like the origin of the life-stream.

     So you say you want to make a remake of FFVII over RPG2k3? It's cool with me. It's your game, your dream, your time, so you can do what you want to with it. What makes it better is that you're helping a friend. That's cool.

     Now about you asking for help: I'm sorry to say this but, I hope no one here is going to help you. I actually went to your forum. I didn't see much, and from what I've already seen , it looks like you stole almost all of those sprites. I have those and even better ones. To me, and probably to many people, it sounds like you're not that serious about this project. Why would anyone want to spend there time working on a remake that:
-will not be as good as the original
-will not be as great looking as the original
-will have a completely stolen musical score
-will not have the same programming as the original
and
-is not their original idea

     I'm not saying you can't ask for help. I'm saying that you have to prove that you and your friend are willing to dedicate your time to this. Most everybody here has their own projects to work on. Plus, here, Final Fantasy Fangames are looked down upon here. I should know as I'm making my own. You have to prove to everyone that what you are doing isn't a waste of time.

     What you can do to prove yourself:
-Post screens
     In your case, this is probably the best thing you can do.
-List Custom Features That You Will Make Without Help
     A project this ambitious (and in my opinion stupid) will need a Custom Menu System, A Custom Battle System, Compressed Full Motion Videos, Several Minigames, and Looping MIDIS of Final Fantasy Music.
-Give Us Info About The 4 Projects You Talked About
     This will show everyone how much effort you put into your projects.
-Give Us Something That Took A Lot Of Effort
     Give a Flash Video or a minigame side project that obviously took a lot of time.    

     I'm not going to talk like everyone else here. If you want to make a Final Fantasy Fangame go right ahead. Remember, games made like this are a priviledge, a gift to everyone else. Remember to have fun with this. I have to say I personally am not going to help you unless you prove what you are doing is worth something.

Oh and by the way, Final Fantasy VII might a remake on the Playstation 3 with Final Fantasy XII's battle system. I know some of you will say that it was just a tech demo, but there have been a recent rise of screens where the graphics are not very FMVish but look like the new Metal Gear Solid game instead.

*sigh* I'll say it again; you guys have made excellent points. In my personal opinion, it wasn't such a hot idea in the first place. People (like muah, for instance) LOVED FFVII so much they were willing to do anything to get a taste of something else like it, but this is not entirely the case here. I simply wanted to help him because I felt like helping him out because I know how I would feel if I wanted to do a project like that. I'm ALSO going to restate that this IS NOT my project. I'm HELPING someone with it.  It's NOT my dream, it's NOT my game (it is however, my time).

I'm not going to prove myself however, because I know we will most likely NEVER finish this project. I'm handing this guy sprites, writing tips, advice and whatnot to help him, but in all my life I've never seen a remake (and by god, don't think I don't know the difference between "original" and "COP-FRIGGIN-OFF") like this pull off anything higher than a middle-finger and a "go do something that's WORTH IT". I'm telling him what aboutasoandthis told me. I know that nothing will ever be better than FFVII (that is, until the PS3 version comes out. I am CERTAIN that it will come out, despite the fact it was just a tech demo. I think I've even heard that the company is actually taking back what it said about NOT making it, but I could be wrong there). Thank you, Dragoon, for saying kind words. Constructive, and unwasteful. If people really want to put there two cents in, I'd rather it be constructive and not a chain of rude put-downs like"Your job already is worthless" or "give up and try doing something 'original'". If anyone is going to complain about what's going on, they might as well add some frigging pointers instead of sitting there with a hammer of judgement and a mind full of supposed wisdom and deeming me worthy of such banter.

Curious, do you treat EVERYONE like this? I hope not, because if a simple thing like this can get bashed to hell like that, there's something wrong here. It started out innocent, and then you guys just add unneccessary negative crap. What your filling this thread up with is apparently known to all - that a remake isn't worth it.
